“August!! Oh My God! What’s wrong?! What happened?!”
Julie was very confused. She had just walked out of her room, and she found August on the floor
sobbing.
“W..w..we..we..we’re...mm...mm....mm...moving” August stuttered out. Julie had to listen
carefully, but she understood what August had said.
“Oh Man! Aug, I’m soo sorry! Why are you moving? Where are you moving to!? I’m gonna miss
you sooo much!!” Julie started to cry also.
August took a deep breath, walked into Julie’s room and sat down on the bed.
“We’re moving to Tulsa. You know, where my family lives. My grandma is sick and my mom
wants us to be closer to the family. I’m leaving in two weeks to stay with a friend of my mom’s
and her family. My parents are going to look for a house.”
August had stopped crying, but Julie could tell that she was on the verge of spilling over again.
Since Julie had noticed this, she got up and gave her best friend a big hug.
“Its ok. We can still be friends. We can call each other. Email, and visit!! Its not gonna be so
bad....”
“But you won’t be there with me!” interrupted August
“I know, I know. But we have to make this work! Hey, maybe you’ll be staying with a hot guy!”
joked Julie.
August smiled. She could always count on Julie to make a crack about hot guys at the right time.
“Yea, maybe. Hey, there’s 7 kids, there’s gotta be a hot guy!” smiled August
“Whoa! 7?! That’s a lot of kids....”Julie was interrupted by the ringing of the phone.
“Hello?”
“Hi Julie, its Mrs. Mayers, is August still there?”
“Yes ma’am”
“Is she still crying?”
“Not anymore”
“Did she tell you about us moving and the baby?”
“You’re gonna have a baby?! Cool!!!”
August’s head shot up as a response to Julie’s outburst. “She’s talking to my mom” she
thought.
“I guess she didn’t tell you, right?”
“Nope”
“Well, yea. Could you please tell her that her father and I are on our way to pick her up? We’re
taking her shopping for new clothes for Tulsa.”
“Will do. You can come up when you get here. No one’s home.”
“Ok, thanks Julie”
“No problem, bye”
“Bye”
Julie hung up the phone and glanced over to August.
“Your parents are on their way over. They’re going to take you shopping”
At this thought, August brightened. “Maybe this won’t be so bad.” she thought.
