The door opened, revealing Lindsay and Amy. They grinned and pulled her inside. The house was dark. All of the sudden, music started to play. No lights came on, but Amy and Lindsay led August down to the basement and to the couch. She obediantly sat down and listened. It was a Hanson song. She could hear Taylor's voice, and she bit her lip. As her eyes adjusted to the dark, she glanced around. Then she saw them. Taylor, Zac, and Isaac were playing in the corner. When the song was done, August just stared. Taylor looked so good. She was so scared. She didn't know what to do. Taylor watched her. She jsut stared, and looked firghtened. He looked at Lindsay. She gave him a look and he sighed. He turnned off the keyboard and stepped off the platform they had been playing on. Hand in his pockets, he made his way over to August. Hesitantly, he sat down next to her. She put her head in her hands. Her eyes had begun to water, and she felt like crying again. Everything that had happened between them from day one had flashed before her. She ran her hands through her hair and looked up. Taylor was sitting next to her, silently, just watching her. His eyes sparkled. He leaned down to her face.
"Can we talk?"
August silently nodded, and they got up. They walked into the next room and sat down on the couch. August sat at one end, Taylor at the other.
"Aug.." he began.
"Tay.." she began.
The both laughed.
"Go ahead Aug."
August nodded. She took a deep breath.
"Ok...well....hmm. Alright. Tay, look, I want to get this set straight. What was that picture all about?"
Taylor looked into her eyes.
"August. Ok, when I was walking to the park through that path, I came across Kelley. I asked her what she was doing there, and she wouldn't tell me. We started arguing and she came up to me and kissed me. I didn't expect it, and obviously I didn't want it. She had Kristi sitting in a tree with a camera. Kristi took the picture, and they told me what they were going to do if I didn't go out with Kelley. I stormed off, so they showed you the picture. Truthfully, I'd rather have you hate me forever then to go out with Kelley Michaelson again. You have to believe me."
By now, Taylor had moved next to August. He stared into her eyes while he spoke. His eyes pleaded her to believe. They begged her. August stared into his eyes for what seemed like an eternity. She furrowed her brow and stared at him, searching his face. She always went back to his eyes. Seemingly satisfied, she wrapped her arms around Taylor's neck and held tightly. With satisfaction, Taylor wrapped his strong arms around August and held tight. This is how he had always wanted it, and he never wanted it to change. They sat there for about five minutes, simply embraced. August broke the embrace and looked to Taylor's face. A tear was falling down her cheek. Taylor gently brushed it away with his finger.
"I'm so sorry." August whispered.
"For what?" asked Taylor.
She looked down, another tear started to fall. Taylor lifted her chin with his hand and gently kissed her. August kissed back.
"What was that for?" she asked when they had pulled apart.
Taylor smiled.
"What? Am I not allowed to kiss my girlfriend when I want to?"
August gave a small smile.
"Well, I guess. If I'm still your girlfriend....."
As she trailed off, she stared at his eyes. He stared back and shrugged.
"I still want you to be my girlfriend. I never stopped wanting that Aug. Its just up to you about if you want to be my girlfriend."
August was taken aback.
"After all this, and after me being such a wench to you?"
She was amazed. Taylor nodded.
"I never stopped loving you Aug, even if I said otherwise." he whispered
August looked deep into his eyes. He was telling the truth. Smiling gratefully, she hugged him again, and kissed his cheek.
***Meanwhile***
Isaac and Zac obviously had stopped playing. Taylor was no longer there. He had walked over and tried to talk to August. Then they had gone into another room to chat. Isaac turnned off the amps and he and Zac found a place to sit. Isaac sat near Chris, and the friends began to talk. Zac sat with Lindsay and Amy. All of the sudden, the doorbell rang. Lindsay and Amy looked at eachother with a grin. They ran up the stairs to the door, and squeals erupted. He heard the door shut. The gils screamed for awhile, and the doorbell rang again. More screams. Zac heard pounding coming down the stairs. He braced himself. He squinted as the girls walked through the door. The lights were almost off, and he had a hard time seeing. To his relief, it was Ellie, and another girl. Ellie was talking to Amy. She looked awesome. He felt a nudge on his arm, he looked over. It was Isaac.
"What?" asked Zac.
"You've got a stupid grin on your face, just wanted to warn you!" Isaac said, laughing.
Zac rolled his eyes and punch Isaac in the arm. This sent Isaac and Chris into hysterics. Zac shook his head and turnned back around. He caught a glimpse of Ellie again. She was now talking to a girl he hadn't seen before. She had her back turnned towards him. With a sly grin, he crept behind her. The girl she was talking to noticed him and he quickly put his fingers to his lips. She quickly nodded and Zac placed his hands over Ellie's eyes. He felt her jump. He smothered a giggle. She grabbed his wrists and pulled them off her eyes. She spun around.
"Zac!!!" she exclaimed. She flung her arms around him and hugged him. He grinned and hugged back.
They pulled apart.
"I haven't seen you for awhile!!" she exclaimed.
"Yea, I know. I haven't been home much!" he laughed.
He noticed the girl standing there, watching them.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" he appologized to her.
"Oh, its ok, don't worry about it." she replied with a smile.
"Ok." he replied.
"I'm Leigh." she said, introducing herself.
"Hi Leigh, I'm Zac." he replied with a big cheesy grin.
Leigh looked harder at him, squinting.
"You look familiar Zac." she said.
"Oh, I do?" Zac replied, playing stupid.
Someone actually didn't recognize him right away. She looked at him for awhile and shook her head.
"I don't know how though. It'll come to me sometime. I'll tell you when I remember, ok?"
Zac nodded. He tapped Ellie and motioned her over to the couch. They sat down.
"She has no idea who I am! Thats great!" he grinned.
Ellie was confused.
"How is that great? Don't you want to be recognized?"
"Ok, yea, I do, I like being recognized, but sometimes its cool not to be recognized so that you get to talk to people without them freaking out, ya know?"
Ellie nodded. The sat and talked for awhile. As she was talking, Ellie looked over Zac's shoulder. She saw August and Taylor walk out of the other room, holding hands. She stopped, mid-sentence, and grinned. In bewilderment, Zac turnned around to see what she was looking at. He smiled. Lindsay noticed too and shot a glace to Ellie. She walked over and put some CDs in the CD player and turnned it on. A slow song came on. Zac turned to Ellie. He got up and bowed and offered his hand.
"May I have this dance?" he asked, with a fake English accent.
Ellie laughed and took his hand.
"But of course!!" she giggled as she stood up.
They walked to about the middle of the room, and Zac put his arms around her waist and pulled her close. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulder. He was about 3 inches taller than her. Taylor and August joined them dancing. Isaac and Chris sat and watched.
"Come on Chris, lets go dance." suggested Isaac.
Chris gave him a look.
"I'm not dancing with you Ike! You may be my best friend and all, but I'm not gonna dance with you!"
Isaac rolled his eyes.
"I didn't mean dance with me, loser! Dance with one of the girls!" he laughed.
"Oh." Chris grinned sheepishly.
They got up and looked around. Amy was dancing with some guy that Isaac recognized as a kid from their neighborhood. He noticed Lindsay and another girl sitting on the floor, talking. He motioned to Chris. He nodded. The two walked over to the girls and leaned down.
"Would either of you two beautiful ladies like to dance?" asked Chris.
The girls both shook their heads. Chris pretended to be hurt.
"Please Linz?" he looked at her with puppy-dog eyes.
Lindsay laughed and nodded. Isaac spoke to the other girl.
"Would you like to dance?"
The girl nodded. The four teens joined everyone else on the floor.
"So, what might your name be?" Isaac asked his dancing partner.
"Well, it might be Leigh, what might yours be?" she replied.
"Nice to meet and dance with you Leigh. I'm Ike."
"Nice to meet you........oh my gosh!!!" she exclaimed as she clamped her hand over her mouth.
She stepped back. Isaaac looked confused.
"You...you...you're Isaac Hanson!" she whispered, so not to make a scene.
Isaac slowly nodded. Leigh laughed.
"I knew he looked familiar!" she said, motioning to Zac.
"Yea, he's my brother."
"Yea, I knew that. I'm sorry for kinda freaking out."
Isaac smiled and shook his head.
"Don't worry about it. At least you didn't scream. Now can we finish our dance?" he smiled.
She nodded and they continued dancing. Leigh was so amazed that she was dancing with Isaac Hanson. The one and only Isaac Hanson. She sighed. She looked around. She smiled when she caught Lindsay's eye. Lindsay was enjoying her dance, Leigh could tell. They danced until the song ended, and Leigh thanked Isaac and rushed over to Lindsay.
