Chapter Two

The two girls got into the elevator and rode up to room 436. They knocked on the door, and Clint opened it.

“Hey,” he said, opening the door wider so Amy and Katie could enter.

“Hi,” they said as they walked into the room. Clint shut the door and followed them. Bob was sitting on his bed eating a Three Musketeers bar.

“Hey,” he said as they entered the room.

“Ooooh, can I have a bite?” Katie asked, ignoring his greeting. She loved anything that had chocolate in it.

“Sure,” he said, holding it out towards her. She walked over to him, opened her mouth, and prepared to take a bite of the candy bar. Right before she bit down on it, Bob pulled it away, causing her to bite down on thin air.

“Hey!” she exclaimed. Bob, Clint, and Amy laughed.

“Okay, here,” said Bob, extending the candy bar. Katie went to take a bite again, but he pulled it away at the last second again. This continued on for about five minutes; Bob kept pulling the candy bar away right before Katie bit down on it, and she couldn’t grab it from him and take a bite herself because every time she did, Bob swatted her hand.

Finally Katie said, “Oh, never mind!”

Bob, who was laughing, extended the candy bar and said, “Here. You hold it yourself, and take a bite.”

She took it from him, took a bite, then handed it back to him. “Thank you,” she said after swallowing the bite.

“You’re welcome.”

Katie sat down next to Bob, since Amy and Clint had sat down on Clint’s bed.

“So, how long are you guys gonna be in Vancouver?” asked Clint.

“A week,” answered Amy.

“Cool, us too,” said Bob.

“Really?” Katie said. He and Clint nodded. “Cool.”

“We’re only gonna be in the hotel till the day after tomorrow though. Then we’re staying with my relatives,” said Amy.

“Oh,” said Bob and Clint. Pretty soon they got to talking about another subject. And another. And then another. Quite awhile later, Katie looked at her watch.

“Oh, my gosh you guys. Guess what time it is,” she said.

“What time?” asked Bob.

“2:05 a.m.”

“You’re kidding?” said Amy.

“Nope.” They had been talking for three hours straight.

“Are you guys tired?” asked Clint.

“No,” Bob, Amy, and Katie answered.

“Me neither.”

“You know, Amy. We didn’t tell your mom where we were going,” Katie told her. Amy put her hand to her mouth.

“Oh, well,” she said. Pretty soon, the four of them had a conversation going again. The next time Katie looked at her watch, it was 5:35 a.m. After announcing this to everyone, Amy said, “You know, we should probably get to bed.”

“I don’t want to,” Katie stated. “I mean, what’s the point? We’d just have to get up in a few hours anyways.”

“Yeah, really,” agreed Bob, Clint, and Amy.

“Then let’s keep talking,” said Bob. So they did. Finally, at 8:00 a.m., Amy and Katie decided to go back to their room.

“You know, we never did watch a movie,” Katie pointed out.

“Oh, well. We have all week,” said Bob.

“We’re going to do something later today, right?” asked Clint.

“Yeah,” agreed Katie and Amy.

“Okay, see you guys later,” said Bob.

“Bye,” Amy and Katie said as we walked out of their room.

“Oh, my gosh, that was so awesome!” Katie exclaimed.

“I know!” agreed Amy. When they got to their room, they decided that there was no point in going to sleep, so they just decided to get ready. They took showers, fixed their hair, and changed clothes. When Amy’s mom woke up, the three of them went out to breakfast. After breakfast, they decided to go shopping for a little bit. When they were done shopping, they went back to the hotel. Right when Amy and Katie walked into their room, the phone rang. Katie dove over her bed and answered it.

“Hello?” she said.

“Hi, Katie?” asked the person on the other end.

“Yeah. Bob?”

“Yeah, hi,” he said.

“Hey, what’s up?”

“Not much. Me and Clint were wondering if you and Amy wanted to go to the river and go swimming.”

“Hold on, let me ask Amy.” Katie placed her hand over the receiver, and said to Amy, “Do you want to go to the river with Bob and Clint?”

“Yeah! Let me go ask my mom,” she said, going out of the room.

“Bob? Amy’s asking her mom if we can go,” Katie said.

“Okay. Hey, did you guys ever go to bed last night?” he asked.

“No, did you guys?”

“Nope.” Katie laughed. Amy walked back into the room and nodded. “We can go,” she told Bob.

“Cool. We’ll meet you in the lobby in ten minutes, okay?”

“Okay.”

They said goodbye, then hung up. Amy and Katie got into their swimsuits, then put their clothes back on over them. When they got down to the lobby, Clint and Bob were already there. The four of them said hi, then started walking to the river, talking the entire way. When they got to the river, the four of them peeled off their clothes and dove into the river. Katie spotted some rocks, so, being the adventurous person that she was, went over to climb them, then dive off of them into the river.

As she was climbing the rocks, Bob yelled, “Be careful!”

“Yeah, yeah, I will,” Katie said. After getting to the top of the rock, she dove into the river. After surfacing, she went to do it again. As she was climbing the rock for the second time, she slipped and almost fell.

“Katie, be careful!” Amy said.

“I am!” she exclaimed. She climbed to the top, then dove into the river. Bob, Clint, Amy, and Katie swam around for nearly two hours. When they got tired of swimming, they laid up on the grass and just talked. When it got to be around 5:00, they decided to walk back to the hotel. When the four of them stood up to walk back to the hotel, Amy felt around her neck to make sure that she hadn’t lost any of her necklaces.

“Crap!” she exclaimed.

“What?” Bob, Clint, and Katie asked.

“I lost my treble clef necklace.”

“Well, maybe it fell off in the grass. Let’s look,” Katie suggested.

The four of them searched for fifteen minutes, but couldn’t find it.

“I guess I’ll just buy another one,” said Amy as they started walking back to the hotel.

“What are you guys doing tomorrow?” asked Clint.

“We have to go shopping with my mom and her cousin,” Amy replied.

“Oh. What about after you’re done shopping?” asked Bob. Amy and Katie shrugged. “Wanna come hang out at the hotel whenever you’re done?” “Sure,” Amy and Katie answered. “Okay, cool,” said Bob and Clint. When they got back to the hotel, Bob and Clint went to their room, and Amy and Katie went to theirs.
