Cross-country was finally over. I had crowned Scott my official running partner, one day after practise. It was hot outside and I was hyper so I took my water bottle and poured water over his head, therefore crowning him. He unfortunately crowned me back, and we started a massive water fight, with everyone on the team. Great fun!
"So Karin what are you doing this weekend?" asked Scott.
We were on the bus, on our way home from school. We had become pretty good friends during the Cross-country season.
"Nothing that I can think of," I answered.
"Well Melissa, Dave, Stef and Mike are all going to Silvercity on Friday to see Star Wars, and Melissa told me that you'd probably like to see it too. Besides I'd kinda feel left out if I went by myself with them. I'd be kind of a third party."
"Sure I'll come. It's not to expensive I hope?"
"Naw, if you don't have enough money, I'll help you out."
"Thanks."
"I'll pick you up at 7:00. They volunteered me to drive. Stef and Mike are coming on their own."
"Well, I'd guess you'd be driving. Mel and Dave can't."
"Yep."
"Since the bus is so full, and we're standing, do you wanna see who can go the longest without holding on?" I asked.
"Are you challenging me here?"
~*~*~
Finally Friday rolled around. I managed to scrape up enough money to at least pay for the movie. Boy was the person at the movie booth going to have a fun time counting my dimes, nickels and quarters.
At 7:00pm a car horn honked from outside. I said goodby to my family and was out the door.
He was driving the family van. I opened the side door and Melissa, Dave, Bob and Clint had filled almost all the seats. "Hi Mel, Hi Dave. Bob. Clint."
I was about to climb in when Melissa spoke out, "we saved the front for you."
"Oh, thanks," I said happily.
I got in the front, "Hey Scott!" I said acknowledging him.
"How's my running partner?" he asked.
Ever since that day we always referred to each other as running partner. "Pretty good....excited about the movie."
"I never knew Bob and Clint were coming," I stated.
"We're not," answered Bob, "well not exactly. We're going to a different movie."
"Oh, I see....cool."
"Is it okay if we listen to THE BEAR?" asked Scott.
"Sure," we all replied.
He turned on the radio, and the new Creed song, Higher, was on. A great song. It talks about heaven in it. Then a crappy song came on, so I decided to rummage through the glove compartment, where I found "a tape of us" in there. Me being interested asked, "Hey Scott, is this you guys?"
"Yeah."
"Can we listen to it?"
"I guess, since there's nothing better to listen to."
So we listened to that music for the rest of the way to West Edmonton Mall, where Silvercity was. I couldn't help but think how good their music was and how good their voices were.
We got to the theatre and got our tickets. I kind of held up the line for the people behind me while the cashier counted my change. After that we headed towards the concession.
"Dad gave me 20 bucks. What do you guys want?" asked Dave.
"Nibs," Scott and I answered in unison. "If that's okay," I added after. Scott was about to say something, but someone cut him off.
"Sour kids," I turned around to see who was talking. It was Mike and Stef. I laughed, and said hi to them.
"Of course its okay," answered Scott, "I never knew you liked Nibs too."
"I always get them."
"Cool."
"Hey Scott wassup?" asked Mike as they gave each other their "cool" handshake/high five thing whatever you call those that guys do.
"Hey Mike," Scott answered.
We got our food and found our way to the movie theatre. I sat down beside Scott, and he smiled.
"Oh, just to warn you, I'll probably start asking questions during the movie," I warned him.
"You can't stand suspense can you?" he teased.
"I guess."
"Don't worry if it gets scary, you can hold my hand and I'll protect you," he said teasing me. I slapped him.
"Since when is Star Wars scary? That's the last time I tell you facts about me and movies."
The movie started, and then ended like all movies do. It was really good, plus it was the first Star Wars movie I saw. You know, see them in order. So episode 1 is a good place to start.
"So how'd you guys like the movie?" asked Stef.
"It was awesome," we answered.
"Next time I go to a movie with Karin though, I'm going to bring duct tape and tape her mouth shut. She never stopped asking questions!" complained Scott.
"Sorry," I answered getting embarrassed.
"Scott why'd you say that for?"questioned Dave getting upset at him.
"Sorry," he mumbled. Then he gave a mischievous smile and came over to give me a hug.
I gave him the hug, then slapped him again, "your such a flirt," I teased.
There you have it folks your third sign.
