“Yeah! That’s a great idea! The River is so beautiful!” agreed Natalie.
“Uh…” Louise’s face turned white.
“Louise? What’s wrong?” asked Bob, looking into her blue eyes.
“I-I can’t go.” Louise said.
“Oh, don’t worry.” Reassured Dave. “We’re not gonna swim. We’re just gonna walk on the rocks and stuff.”
“On-on the rocks? I can’t!” cried Louise.
“Why not?” asked Scott.
“Because I can’t!” Louise ran away from them.
The others looked at each other confusingly.
“What’s wrong with her?” asked Natalie.
“I’m gonna find out!” Bob ran after her.
Tears ran down Louise’s face, causing her vision to be blurry. She kept on running. No one must know that Laura’s death was her fault. No one.
“Louise! Louise!”
Louise kept on running, and collapsed on her front lawn, crying. She felt strong arms around her, and held her tightly.
“It’s ok. It’s ok.” The person murmured. Louise felt save in the person’s arms. She buried her face in his chest and inhaled the smell of TOMMY cologne.
“Louise?” the voice said softly.
Louise looked up and saw Bob staring down at her. She was in Bob’s arms.
“Bob…” she whispered.
“What’s wrong? Please tell me.” He said softly.
“I-I killed my sister.” Louise said with her head rested oh his shoulder.
“What?” Bob cried.
“I-I killed my twin sister. Laura and I were walking on the rocks to cross the river when my necklace chain broke. It-it fell into the river.”
Bob looked at the delicate silver necklace that’s around Louise’s neck. “And?” he asked.
“And Laura told me not to get the necklace because it was raining too hard.”
Bob hugged her tighter. “What happened next?” he asked.
“The next day, when I woke up and went into Laura’s room, she wasn’t there! I looked out the back door, and I saw her, floating in the river!”
“Go on.” Bob said softly.
“When I went to her, my necklace was clutched in her hand!” Louise burst into tears again.
