Um Yeah
Chapter 3

My face all the sudden lost all its colour, my mouth dropped open and a scared look plastered my face. I was off in lala land for a minute, while the guys appeared. I was caught off guard when Clint greeted me with a hug. "Ahhh," I yelped, "Clint you scared me."

When I calmed down a bit, I introduced them to Sandi, who was more than delighted to meet them.

"Hey you guys, where did Mike go?" I asked.

"Oh he just had to get something ready for us," answered Clint who was wearing a hat, and for some odd reason his eyes were blue.

"Yeah right my foot, little boy, admit it, it was you! I see a mistake," I said.

"Where?"

"Your eyes are still blue."

"Oh man, I can't fool no one!" he complained.

"So Karin," asked Scott, "what do you think about opening for us."

"Um, I'm honoured, but three things. One, I'm scared, two, I'm not good, and three, I want to hear my voice blasted concert volume before I decide."

"Come on Karin, you can do it. You won't even be able to see most of the audience with the lights on," said Dave.

"Here, you can use my guitar, I'll go get the sound guy to give you a little sound check, but since it's just your voice and the guitar there isn't much to check. We have to hurry because the doors open soon," said Scott.

I was pretty much dragged onstage by Bob, while yelling at Sandi to help me.

"Just try at least," said Bob.

"Okay, okay, I'll try this, if I sound okay then I'll open for you," I gave in.

I went out there and tried my hardest to sing my best. At first my voice sounded a little awkward to me but them I got used to it, and I didn't sound too bad at all, actually I sounded great, and his guitar was really nice too. Easy to play. So I agreed to open for them.

Sandi was excited about this. She was going to go sit in the audience because the doors were just opened, but I begged her to stay backstage to know someone was there. The guys and the crew where totally supporting me one hundred percent, which made me believe I could do it.

Soon it was five minutes before show time. My stomach was doing flip flops. The next thing I knew Dave was announcing me to come.

"Ladies and Gentleman, our opening act couldn't be here today because the lead singer has laryngitis, but we have the next best thing and we found her last minute, so please make her feel welcome, welcome Karin!" said Dave, and I ran onstage and shook his hand. He whispered to me, "go get em!"

"Thanks," I tried to speak, but I barely made a noise. My voice for some reason was gone, "Dave, I.....I lost my voice," I tried my best to say.

He understood, so we had to buy some time, "Karin informed me that we are experiencing some technical difficulties, so we'll start in 10 minutes."

"Shoot, what are we going to do," I whispered, which was about the only voice I had.

"Karin you just had your voice a minute ago," said Sandi.

"Maybe it's a sign that I"m not supposed to be doing this, or the enemy is not wanting me to go onstage and worship God with the songs I'm singing," I whispered panicking.

"Here, I'll pray for you," said Sandi.

"Please," I answered.

She prayed and asked God to rid of the devil if he was preventing me from ministering, and asked God if it was His will that I be singing. After that I felt better. I tried talking and I had some voice, but not a full one. Bob gave me a bottle of water to drink, which helped my voice even more.

"Thank you Lord," I said to myself.

When the 10 minutes were up, my voice was back full, and another funny thing was I wasn't nervous for I knew God was with me. I went onstage and introduced myself, " hi, like Dave said before, I'm Karin. The technical difficulties are fixed, so nothing will be cut short or not heard in the Moffatts concert," the crowd cheered, "I'm here by fluke, so I don't have any of my own songs to sing. Some of you might know these songs, and others of you won't. The first song is Naturally, by Hokus Pick."

I began the first chords. So far there weren't any screw ups. When I began to sing, I couldn't believe my ears, it was the most beautiful sound I had heard. I was one hundred percent sure it was God helping me out. When the song was over, the crowd seemed happy with what they were hearing. Then I heard some screaming, "we love you Karin," I turned to see where it was coming from, and to my surprise it was my friends Lisa and Jenn from school. Two people I wouldn't have thought to see there. I waved to them, and then introduced my next song.

"Wow, you guys this is so overwhelming for me. This is the first audience I've ever sang and played for. Do me a favour, boo me. I don't deserve to play for an audience this size."

They obeyed me, and I kinda laughed at them because it was funny. "Okay, thank you, the next song I'm going to play is, I'm trading my sorrows, by Daryl Evans."

I played that song great too, and it was wonderful to see a few people singing along, some were dancing.

"The last song I'm going to play is, Hungry, but I don't know who it is by." When the song was over the crowd went into a loud applause, either because they liked me, or because they were excited that I was done and the Moffatts were next.

Sandi and I quietly slithered to our seats after I had washed the stage make up off my face and put on some mascara. People noticed us though and some even cam and told me they like the music I played.

When we got to our seats, we must of had perfect timing or something but the Moffatts then started their show. They were really, really good and knew how to get the crowd going. Sandi and I had a blast jumping on all the up tempo songs and then hoping for a slow one to come so we could cool down. Soon the high energy concert was over. "Last but not least I'd like to thank Karin for playing for us on such short notice. I'm rally thankful our cousin Mike helped find her," said Clint. Sandi and I burst into laughter, "give her another round of applause, heck why don't you come onstage," he continued motioning for me to come. First I shook my head at him, but then somehow he convinced me to come even though he was standing about 25 metres from me. So I moseyed my way up there.

Once onstage Dave surprised the heck out of me, "Karin will join us for our last song, Misery!"

I turned to leave the stage but Scott grabbed my arm and gave me his acoustic guitar and told me, "you know this song right." I nodded my head, "then jam with us, just play the chords, and I'll do the solo's and suff with the electric. You can share a microphone with Clint, and just sing when he sings. Simple enough?"

I nodded my head again, knowing there was no way out, so we hooked the acoustic up to an amp, and then we were ready to rock. I let Scott do the opening verse by himself on guitar for I figured it would sound better on electric than acoustic, but I joined in when he played chords for the rest of the song. At first I didn't exactly remember when to come in for the harmony part because I was just used to singing it alone the entire song, in the comfort of my living room, but caught on, and it sounded different with a girl singing, but not bad.

Once we were done playing we got off stage and we're walking to the dressing rooms, "man you guys, I've had enough surprises for a day. You guys did good though....shoot I'd better go get Sandi."

"Hey you did good too, I'll catch you later," said Clint.

"Oh wait, would you dress up as Mike again and see how your fans react."

"It's tempting but...."

"Awe come on, it'll be fun. You can change back to Clint after, but first make sure I check you to make sure you didn't miss anything."

"Okay, maybe for five minutes," he said giving in.

"To make it less obvious, keep Bob or someone behind when you're Mike and come back with Bob when you're Clint."

"That makes sense."

He went his way and I went mine. I found the gate where all the backstage pass people were behind and looked for Sandi. She was in the middle of the crowd and I waved to her. Then a security guard came, and thought I was a fan that somehow snuck backstage, and ushered me out. "Hey, I'm aloud to be back here, I was onstage for the last song and came to get my friend."

"Yeah right, now get out," he said.

"Fine," I said angrily, and walked into the crowd of girls.

"Hey," said Sandi when I finally got to her.

"Hey, man, that guy was sure nice," I said sarcastically.

"Yep!"

"I came here to rescue you, but now it seems like we both need to be rescued."

Someone tapped me on the shoulder. "Hey Karin, you did so good!"

It was Melissa, "thanks Mel, I can't believe they kicked me out!"

"Somebody lost their head," she answered.

After about 10 minutes of waiting they finally let us in. All the other girls ran, except for Sandi, Melissa, and me, on the way we met up with Clint, or should I say Mike. I gave him one of those flirty smiles, just to tease him. "Mike is looking sexy tonight."

He gave me a mischievous grin, "how about in 5 minutes you meet me in the dressing rooms, and we'll get to know each other better," he returned the flirtyness.

"Are you sure, what if the Moffatts find us?"

"Oh, trust me babe, they won't."

Sandi was almost in tears laughing at us, because she know Mike was Clint and kind of figured then that I was just going to make sure there were no errors on Clint this time. Melissa was very confused.

"Oh sorry Mel, this is Mike and Mike is a cousin of the Moffatts, he's pretty hot don't you think."

"Umm, yeah, sure," she answered confused.

Clint then left to talk to other people in the room. Scott and Dave were already there, and Clint was trying to convince as many people as he could that he was the cousin of the Moffatts, and was doing a pretty good job of it too, everyone believed him, a few minutes later he announced that he had to go help pack the stage up because that was his job. About two minutes after he left I went and followed him. He quickly changed and them let me in the room while he fixed his hair and took his contacts out. Bob was sitting in a chair and reading a magazine, but he looked like he was about to fall asleep, so I didn't bother, bothering him, so I just sat down on the sofa. Five minutes later he was done.

"Nope, I still think Mike is sexier," I teased.

"That's mean.....so anyways am I missing anything?" asked Clint.

I looked him over, "looks okay, except for your necklace."

"Stupid," he said to himself, "will you put it on for me, it's kinda hard to get the clasp together," he asked shyly.

"Sure, no problem," I answered. He handed me the necklace, and I went about the wrong way putting it on. Instead of standing behind him and doing up the clasp, I stood infront of him and had my arms around his neck, putting the necklace on straight, while fumbling a little with the clasp, due to the reason Clint moving closer to me.

While I was putting on the necklace, Bob kinda woke up from his daydreaming slumber, remembering that he was supposed to be somewhere. He took what I was doing the wrong way and from the angle he was looking at us from, it kinda looked like we were in the middle of a make out session, "Clint, have you heard of getting a room?" he asked annoyed.
