  • Nice turnout for the Cannibal Corpse, Dark Funeral, Pissing Razors, Incantation show. Hopefully some that attended that show will start attending smaller, local shows. Also, a few shows have been posted on the shows page.

  • Many new shows just added. Go to the shows page to check them out.

  • The Noctuary, Stormbringer, Exhausted Prayer, A.R.C, Gutrot show at The Catacombs was alot of fun. Next month, Rise is confirmed as one of the bands. I want to see more people showing up for these shows. This is our only monthly death/black metal show (not to mention it is all ages). Show your support by going to the show and bringing a few friends with you.

  • Cannibal Corpse and Dark Funeral are now confirmed to make an appearance at Blue Meannie Records for a CD signing on Tuesday April 23, from 3pm to 4pm.

  • New pictures of me (Brian) are up. Prepare to be horrified. Fortress have been added to the links and bands pages.

  • Cannibal Corpse are having a CD signing at Blue Meannie Records on Tuesday April 23 from 3pm to 4pm. They will be playing that night at Brick by Brick with Dark Funeral, Incantation and Pissing Razors.

Here is a press release from Cattle Decapitation:

CATTLE DECAPITATION joins the onslaught! http://www.cattledecapitation.com San Diego's goreifying quintet CATTLE DECAPITATION, have signed to America's #1 Heavy Metal Record label METAL BLADE RECORDS. Metal Blade has been in the forefront of groundbreaking extreme music. Cattle Decapitation's sound will bring elements of older death/grind, inbred with utterly impossible low vocals, while being stabbed by immense drumming. Cattle Decapitation brings forth the ideas of vegetarianism with the utmost brutal approach in expression, both musically and imagery.
When the names Carcass, Napalm Death, Repulsion, Cannibal Corpse are said as
the defining bands, Cattle Decapitation will be the next name on the list. Fans may recognize drummer Dave Astor who formed The Locust, and former Cattle Decapitation guitarist Gabe Serbian who now plays drums in The Locust. Showing their deep roots in the underground extreme music scene, playing shows up and down the West Coast, as well as releasing 2 full length albums on an indy label from San Diego. Singer Travis Ryan had this to say about their addition to the Metal Blade roster:
"We're all very pleased about being on Metal
Blade. We have been fans of bands of Metal Blade for
years now, so to finally to be on a roster that has
hosted Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Rigor Mortis and
Cryptic Slaughter is just fine with us! Being on Metal
Bladeis going to allow us to reach a higher level of
exposure and ability to play in places and in front of crowds
that we wouldn't normally be able to, and that is
    something we need right now."
CATTLE DECAPITATION will head into Trident Studios with Juan Urteaga and start to record their Metal Blade debut in early April. Expect their release, "To Serve Man" in July 2002.

  • The Catacombs presents Noctuary, Stormbringer, Exaunted Prayer, Gutrot and A.R.C on Sunday, April 7, 7:30pm at Club Xanth. As you may know, Catacombs is a monthly death/black metal show. Come out and support the scene.

New Amon Amarth -"The Crusher" review is up
    .

  • The show at Club Xanth on Sunday ruled! I actually got to see the whole show!
Thanks to the following for the great show and supporting the scene: Dave (again for booking the show), Club Xanth, the bands (Defile, Downspell, Mortuus Terror, Cattle Decapitation and Deeds of Flesh), Laura and Dave of Warface, Crazy Mike, Jared, Ryan, Stephanie, Lauren, Bob, Tim, Armondo, Metalhead Mike, Claire, Zach, Chris, Rob and everyone else who made it to the show.
A few things that could have improved the show: Allow re-entry (I needed some fresh air but going in that smoke chamber didn't seem to do it for me), and the hippies that were selling the water were a bit annoying. Everything else was perfect.

  • Sadly, Warface are unable to play the show on Sunday at Club Xanth. They were unable to prepare their temporary drummer in time for the show. Cattle Decapitation will be taking their spot. The lineup for the show is now Deeds of Flesh, Cattle Decapitation, Mortuus Terror, Downspell and Defile. See you there!

  • Deeds of Flesh, Warface, Mortuus Terror, Downspell and Defile are playing this Sunday at Club Xanth. I hope to see you all there. It will be $7 at the door and all ages are welcome, show starts at 7pm. Slayer has postponed the 4th & B show once again. Some broken links were fixed on the links page.

In other news, the site look has changed a little, also we have a new review of Conqueror's "War Cult Supremacy" album.

  • Black Witchery and Crimson Moon reviews up. Thanks to Ryan and Stephanie for the awesome reviews!

  • Cattle Decapitation's "Human Jerky" LP is finally available for mailorder on enhanced CD! Digitally remastered with bonus live footage, downloadable desktops and a link to the band's website, playable in any computer! Witness Human Jerky tracks from the beef jerky mask shows! Experience superb, digitally remastered CARNAGE!!!

    Get it here:
    Three One G
*This is the band's first album originally issued on vinyl only. This has nothing to do with the 2002 Metal Blade release, To Serve Man, due out mid-2002.

  • A reviews page has been added, email me if you would like to help with reviews. Hopefully the message board will be up soon (Jared!).

  • Press release from Brick Bath:  There's a lot of major things happening in the BRICK BATH camp!
The debut album titled "I Won't Live the Lie" on Pavement Records/Crash Music is now available in stores everywhere. If your favorite record store doesn't have it, tell them to carry it!

  • I plan on having reviews up on the site so people can have sone input on what to buy when heading to your local metal store. Anyone interested in doing reviews are encouraged to email me. In other news, there are alot of concerts added to the shows page. Also, I have updated my CD list. I havent done this in awhile. If anyone is interested in doing some trading, be sure to let me know.

  • Scott Ellis has left Warface due to reasons undisclosed. Warface are now in search for a drummer. If you or someone you know may be interested, please contact them

  • Catacombs at Club Xanth last night was awesome. I was only there for about an hour and 45 minutes, but it was an hour and 45 minutes that will live on forever. I would like to thank the following people for their participation in making that small ammount of time, so great: Dave (for booking such an epic show), Club Xanth, all the bands (Eternal Unborn, Mortuus Terror, Abysmal Nocturne, Crematorium, Sumeria), Ryan, Scott (greedy bastard), Jared, Spoto, Crazy Mike (thanks for the beer), Sharmaine (I didn't see you but I think you went to the show), Armondo, Zach (see Sharmaine's comment), and thanks to all the fans that showed up.
I would like eternal damnation to the following: All the girls who gave me dirty looks, and AMPM for making me leave the show early cause I had to work. Be sure to make it out to Catacombs next month, Deeds of Flesh, Mortuus Terror, Warface and Downspell are going to be playing. This show is a must! In other news, I will have album reviews up very soon.

  • Paul Baloff, frontman of the legendary 80's thrash metal band Exodus has passed away on February 2nd. He suffered a sever stroke and had to be pulled off of life support. Exodus were a very influential band that came out of the bay area in the early 80's. They had recently reformed and were on a tour (even had a show booked for Brick by Brick in March). Paul's music will live on in the countless bands that Exodus influenced.

  • Sadly, sdmetal.org is no more. This has inspired me to pick up the torch and bring alot of it's elements to this site. A message board (my favorite place to rant) and many other things will be added to this site over the next few months. Hopefully Jared will participate in helping with this site. If anyone has any suggestions for this site please email me. I would like to thank Jared for how he has greatly helped the San Diego metal scene. Thanks bro.

  • Checked out The Scene. I like it. Reminds me of the good ol' days at Soma. Warface is playing on Sunday February 2nd at The Whisky in LA. Tickets are available from Warface. Contact them here to get tickets. If you can't get to LA check out The Catacombs at Club Xanth. Bands playing that night are Mortuus Terror, Abysmal Nocturne, Crematorium, Sumeria, and Eternal Unborn. For directions and more information check out the Club Xanth website.

  • The New Years Evil show at Brick by Brick was great. I bashed my head into a speaker and blah blah blah. Thanks to all who were concerned. You all rule.

  • Here is an email I recieved from Travis of Cattle Decapitation concerning their talks with Metal Blade Records and the new album:

And here's a press release from Metal Blade for your site. We're almost there... We're waiting to get the proposal to Erik Rutan back and then we're going to iron everything out asap. They're looking at a July 30th release
date. We're down for recording in Florida the first two weeks of March.:

Vocalist Travis Ryan had this to say about the future with Metal Blade "To us it is an honor to be chosen by a label that is responsible for such greats as Rigor Mortis, Cryptic Slaughter, Cannibal Corpse and King Diamond as a theater to present to the unfortunate public our brand of extreme
    music".
Expect a full serving of their upcoming album TO SERVE MAN, due out in mid 2002. Cattle Decapitation will be touring throughout 2002 in build up

  • Great turn-out for the Morbid Angel, Deicide, Zyklon, Soilent Green, Exhumed show! I had a great time and it was real nice seeing everyone there.
  • At the show, Travis from Cattle Decapitation told me that the band has still not signed with Metal Blade Records yet. They have some legal issues to iron out first. He informed me that they plan to start recording a new album mid 2002. They are in talks with Erik Rutan (Ripping Corpse, Morbid Angel, Alas and has produced the latest Krisiun and Pessimist releases), to produce their album.

  • Crimson Moon have not broken up! Nocturnal Overloard sent me an email saying how Crimson Moon have recorded an album that will be an archive of all the music they have done. This includes re-recordings of their demos and 3 unreleased songs. Also be sure to check out Nocturnal Overloard's solo project Nibiru. He tells me it is cold, atmospheric black metal.

  • The Monstrosity show was ok, I am not too impressed with their new vocalist. Mortuus Terror put on a great show as allways. I talked with Travis of Cattle Decapatation at the show, he said they are signing a record deal with Death Vomit / Necropolis Records.
