Hello MANIAcs! So, you're in a reading mood? So, you're looking for a prime place to feast on fics? You've come to the right place! After spending hours on end wandering around the web, in and out of sites in search of a good read, I've decided to compile a list o' ****four star fics**** for any interested MANIAcs.
Now, I'm addicted to the written word, and fan fiction is just another way for me to feed my fetish. I've spent many a sleepless night devouring BSB related pieces, and have come to consider myself a Fan Fic Connoisseur. These are just a few of my favorites.....
{{PLEASE NOTE: The majority of these pieces contain sexual content. Please do not email me exclaiming over my taste in fan fiction. These stories are here because they are MY OPINION of a good read. I'm not forcing you to read them, neither is the author. So please, no hate mail. Personally, I do not support the WWTT campaign, though I do respect it. I'm sorry if you find these picks offensive.}}
Before you start....Have you read the recipients of the MANIAc Award yet? Shame shame! Why don't ya check those out before you tackle the four star picks? Click HERE to view the winners and the links to their stories.
Could Not Ask For More, written by Cheryl, the sequel to "Whenever You Call". If you haven't read the first story, why are you wasting time?! The link to it can be found on our Award Winners page, so shoo! Go now! The sequel is also well worth your time.
"Secrets", posted on the "I Want My BSB!" site, Carla and Kat are talented authors whose words literally flow off the screen. With a great plot and an engaging style, this piece is well worth your time and attention.
"Wish Upon A Star", written by Brit, posted on her site by the same name. An excellent sense of character and plot development catapult this piece onto MANIA's Four Star list; each of those stars are well earned! Very well written, "Wish..." combines the passion and trepidition of young love in a classic and beautiful light.
Can You Feel Me?, written by Danielle, posted on her site, BSB Escapes. Two souls are bound in a way neither of them understands. Fate has brought them together for a purpose and they need to find out what the reason is and learn to save themselves along the way.
Choices written by Kira, posted on her "Choices" fan fiction site. It's a story which doesn't hesitate to break all of those nasty Nick fic stereotypes. It's new, refreshing, and definitely not run of the mill. As a rule, I steer clear of Nick pieces, but this one captured and held my attention.
In Name Only written by Kat, posted on her site, The Kat's Meow. Now, this piece may offend some, so don't bother reading it if you're offended by sexual situations, adult issues, or sexual orientation. I was a little shocked at first, but the story grows on ya. So much, in fact, I'm on the edge of my seat waitin' for updates. One of my faves, though I can guarantee some of you'll hate it.
The Kat Came Back Literally. This is another piece by Kat ("In Name Only"), posted on "The Kat's Meow", of course. I really liked this one; don't worry, there aren't any "sexual orientation issues" in this one. Just so you know though, it IS rated R for sexual situations. Again, if this bothers you, don't read it. I've warned you and Kat has a warning posted on her main page.
Never Too Latewritten by Sandra, hosted on the "The One" fan fiction site. I really enjoyed this piece, centering around Kevin. Very well written with an engaging style.
Love and Hate written by Andie. From the author who brought you "Without You", yet another fabulously involved fic to keep you entertained for hours on end! Notorious for the 100 chapter length of her previous story, Andie is a laugh riot, regularly garnishing the romance and tension of "Love and Hate" with her one of a kind humor that will keep you coming back again and again. Sure to be a winner, particularly for those of us who like a good soap saga, I recommend you read this piece which is posted on Andie's own site.
Rain written by Alyssa, hosted on the BSB Adult Connection. This is a piece I inadvertantly stumbled upon while checking for updates on one of my favorite sites. While I was looking for additions in other sections of BSBAC, the title of this story intrigued me and I succumbed to the urge to read it. Only the third Brian fic to make four star status, I definitely recommend this piece to those of you who're harboring a B-Rok fetish. It's well written, poignant, and has a fabulous ending to boot! "Rain" is undoubtedly worth your while.
Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep written by Kasey. An extraordinarily well written piece which will have you pointing and clicking to the next chapter faster than you can say "Howie D". When a cop stumbles upon a woman running from a crime she's just witnessed in the streets of LA, the next few hours change his life forever. Quickly becoming more involved than he could have ever imagined, the twists and turns in this plot will chill you to the core....that is, if the *ahem* adult scenes don't warm you up first. *lol* Definitely worth your while, regardless of who your favorite Boy is. Piece hosted on BSB Escapes. Thanks to Danielle for this submission.
Not Distance, Not Timewritten by Lumien. A fabulously unique piece which brings to light some serious speculations on the life and mistakes of a celebrity. Very well written, the story's premise is original and a pleasure to read with a realistic view point. It COULD happen. Nick tries to negotiate piece between Howie and AJ over the love of a beautiful young woman....but will HE be able to resist her? Kudos to TINA for bringing this story to my attention.
NEW LINK!!! UPDATED!!!Chandrah's Stories, written and maintained by Chandrah. This site is the epitome of a Four Star Fic Pick, in each and every way. The fourteen "long short stories" featured here are in a word: addicting. Chandrah's writing style is the most engaging I've encountered in quite a long while, with a voice and attitude all it's own. Definitely well worth your time, don't waste another second! (Click on the link and read the stories in order from top to bottom -don't skip over any or read out of order because you'll be lost and confused.) Kudos a thousand times over to Meredith for pointing me in Chandrah's direction! I owe you one, girl.
The Quest. I searched all over this website for the authors' names, but to no avail. However, this is one story you don't want to miss! Creating the latest big time buzz among avid web readers, this story explores a whole new genre in BSB fiction: fantasy. Five men embark on a desperate quest to save a corrupt kingdom from certain destruction, encountering many trials along the way. A great read from beginning to end, "The Quest" will take you where no fan fic has ever gone before.
Justice, written by Mandy and Michelle, posted on Mandy's website. Without a doubt, these two women are the up and coming fan fiction duo of the new millennium. They've got style, they've got class, great characters, and an original plot that promises to keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Something new in the suspense genre is long overdue, and Mandy and Michelle are about to deliver all that and a bag of chips. I highly recommend that you surf on over to their neck of the woods and check out "Justice"...chance are, you won't regret it. By the way, if you've got a minute, take a gander at the rest of Mandy's site, particularly her collection of personal works and hosted stories, any of which rate four star on my scale - and then some.
Beneath It All, written by Scotty T. (aka thepoetboy) This is one of the most remarkable stories I have had the pleasure of reading in quite a while. In fact, it's quickly become one of my favorites, and I'm sure it'll have a similar impact on you as well. Just a warning, this story is found on the Nifty Archives and does contain gay themes - however, please don't let that deter you. There is no graphic sex to be found here, just a poignant budding relationship that might make you cry, *will* make you smile, and most certainly will entertain you with it's honesty and integrity. Also of note: Scotty's "Mirrors", whether or not you're in the mood for an N Sync fix. Regardless, check it out.
AJ's Faith Fiction, written and maintained by Kristina. This site is a guaranteed haven for those of you searching for mature, sometimes risque, always hot stories with well developed plots and characters. Faith Fiction happens to house one of the greatest communities of hosted adult authors on the web today, too. Kristina opens her hosted section to the likes of Lumien, Chandrah, and Kelley, to name a few. Faith offers a truly eclectic collection that will occupy you for hours on end...I know I can't stay away for long, and YOU won't be able to either.
A Is For..., written and maintained by Jesse. "Bless me Father for I have sinned...." I honestly can't believe this site hasn't been linked sooner (it certainly *should* have been). I can only plead temporary insanity and a horrible case of "Everything-has-it's-place-so-everything's-all-over-the-place Syndrome"...which, let's face it, we all know there is no treatment for. In any case, as far as I'm concerned, A is for "Absolutely fabulous", because that's exactly how Jesse's site registers on the four star scale. With that incredibly insightful talent of hers, Jesse spins story after story with the sort of seemingly effortless ease we all wish we could claim. And don't worry about overlap, there're plenty of works she's posted on her site for you to enjoy that don't appear on the MANIA shelves. So, point and click away, my friends. I highly recommend it.
Backstreet Escapes, owned and maintained by Danielle. Okay, this is a fine example of the procrastination for which I am famous. I have no earthly idea why it's taken me so long to link the entire BSBEscapes addy, but here it is. This site contains one of the best (and most diverse) collections of fan fiction on the web today. Featuring mostly adult authors, a plethora of supernatural stories, and lots 'n lots of good old fashioned "visual" activity, BSBEscapes is "top drawer" in my book! As a point of reference, the "Grace Trilogy" has been given the MANIAc Award, so you just *know* it's got to be good....fabulous, actually. If you haven't already paid BSBEscapes a visit, I'll be surprised - but for the 5 or 10 of you who haven't? Go. Now.
>Fan Fiction, Stories By Eshey, written and maintained by Eshey. This site should win an award for sheer volume of stories hosted/posted for your reading pleasure. Eshey works hard, not only to pen her own fantastic tales, but to maintain the sizable community of authors she currently hosts. Upon wandering onto her site I was so amazed at the selection, I was nearly overwhelmed....almost, but not quite. I managed to keep my wits long enough to read a few of the stories posted, and let me tell you, it's definitely worth your while to search for a read that satisfies *your* appetite. While not everything will appeal to you (as is bound to happen with a site that large), I'm confidant that even the most finicky reader will stumble upon a four star fic or two...or three...or...well, you get the idea.
Thoughts From The Heart written and maintained by Out of Sync (Amy, Heather, Kasey, and Sandee). This is one of those sites that *should* have been linked here ages ago, but do to my own error (classic case of "scatter brain") I just never got around to it. Believe me, that was a travesty on my behalf! "Thoughts..." contains some truly great fiction, particularly MANIAc Award Winner, "Switched". (Don't miss that one, trust me.) I'm also partial to "Sincerely Yours", one of the girls' latest forays into fan fic. Four stars, all the way around, don't miss THEIR fic picks (aka, "Creme de la Creme Fan Fic"). Be sure to drop these gals a line and tell 'em MANIA sent you!
Fan Fiction Etc., written and maintained by Christianne. This site is fabulous! More specifically, "Passing in Shadows" and it's sequel, "Shadows as One". This saga chronicles a rare friendship through the early years as reluctant pen pals, the awkward stages of adolescence, and finally, the crowning glory of adulthood. I fell in love with this piece from the get go and the line "....I hope you like Smurfs...", as penned in Shana's very first letter to the leading boy-man. Truly exceptional, Christianne writes with fantastic poignancy and a sense of humor that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. Point and click, ladies and gentlemen. You won't regret it, particularly if you favor a less risque approach to fan fic. Two thumbs up!
Felicity Fan Fic written and maintained by DJ Riley. An adult novelist, DJ brings you a site which contains hours of entertainment, one that's sure to have you checking back daily for updates. An eclectic selection that rivals any Harlequin romance series to date, my recommendations include "Every Thought of You", the "Five Lies Trilogy", and "Yellow Rose of Texas", to name a few. Well worth your time; don't forget to check out the MANIAc Award recipient, "Hollywood Nights"!
Princess Fiction, written and maintained by the Angel of Music, Kristy. The latest and greatest in online fan fic, Kristy's finally ventured into site creation with the help of her webmistress, Sunshine Atlanta. Straight from Cinderella's castle, they bring you stories which belong in every reader's Hall of Fame such as "Once Upon A Time" (MANIac Award recipient), "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes", and the collaborative success "Everything Your Heart Desires", penned by "Princess Kristy" and Cheryl (of "Whenever You Call" fame). If you bookmark one site on your computer today, make it this one.
Act Like I'm A Space Ship written and maintained by Julia. I don't know whether it's his new 'do, or the way he's suddenly grown up, but I've recently found myself seduced by Nick's charms. Certainly, the "Act Like I'm A Space Ship" site has had something to do with my sudden rush of admiration for the BSB Adonis. Julia's blessed with a wonderful gift of voice in her work, a gift she shares with us through such surefire hits as "I'll Take Care of You", "In The Arms of Angels", and "More Than A Heart Can Hold". Julia's writing style is simply bewitching; she'll have you under her spell and clamoring for updates in no time flat. "Act Like I'm A Space Ship" serves up Nick stories I genuinely enjoy, without a trace of the "gag factor" so prominent in other sites and stories devoted to this Boy.
Kiss The Flame written and maintained by Beth. She's finally delved into the wonderful world of webpages, bringing you her very own site with such 'classics' as "Everything In My Life" and "My Love Affair With A Backstreet Boy". Definitely several must read stories, you'll not regret your visit!
BSB Attorney's On The Web Fan Fic written and maintained by the BSB Attorneys: Sabrina, Jill, and Lolita. Okay, I confess; I'm hooked. Visiting this site should be illegal because I am an 'A-number-one-seriously-dependant' Attorney fic addict...and you should be too! As you may know, "Port In A Storm" by these three talented ladies recently received the MANIAc Award, and the fabulous news: THERE'S A SEQUEL! To sweeten the deal, a fantastic short story by Sabrina entitled, "The Witness" is also posted. Why are you still here? You should be well on your way surfing the action packed legal wave of the BSB Attorneys' Fan Fic! (Go. Now.)
Stories A Go-Go A division of the "For The Lovahs" site, this page offeres a plethora of stories which will capture your attention from the start. I am particularly devoted to Chris' "I Love You Just The Way You Are", as it features a heroine of a diverse and wonderful nature. The short story series affectionately known as "The Encounter" series, is absolutely charming, "Produce, Chives, and Baking Soda" a personal favorite. Well worth your time, as well as being "clean cut", with a "G" rating. (Perhaps I'm atoning for my sins, eh? *lol*) Check it out.
Sarah and Katy's Cheezy Backstreet Boys Fan Fics You'll notice that this link is not to the Table of Contents of just one story. Why? Because I enjoy EVERY SINGLE PIECE posted on this site. It's true, I'm an utterly devoted Cheezehead (their version of a MANIAc.) Do me (and yourself) a favor, and check out "The Mad and Ash" series, "Famous Last Words" (which won the MANIAc Award!), and "One Big Happy". It's a move you'll not regret, I promise.
Backstreet Boys Mind Candy I stumbled onto this site after Kenna's thoughtful gesture (sending MANIA a valentine via email) convinced me to point and click on the link in his signature. That's right, you heard me: HIS. Mind Candy is the best kept secret on the web, as it truly is a 'must visit' for the visually inclined. Now, I'm not a huge visual fan, but occasionally, I like to read a bit of smut just like the next woman. Honestly, you'll not find smut any more poetic than at Mind Candy! Naturally, I've only worked my way through the Howie visuals at the time of this posting, but the stories devoted to the Latin Lover are chock full of prose and wonderful imagery. The frosting on the proverbial cake is this site's founders. I believe Mind Candy is the FIRST site run entirely by a COUPLE. He writes the stories, she posts them and maintains Mind Candy as well as producing some fantastic graphics! A must see and don't forget to bookmark!
Just To Be Close To You Another entire site! Sheesh, ya just can't get away from that! It's true, I love this lady's writing as well. Her piece, "Weekend Plans", was the first recipient of the MANIAc Award. It's great, as are the other stories posted there. Be ware, this (like all the others seem to) does contain sexual content. But the fics are wonderful, in my opinion.
By now, you've probably heard of my latest guilty pleasure: "those other five". And while I'm not particularly proud of the fact that I could (technically) be labeled a *sigh* N SYNC fan, I have come to appreciate the talents of some extraordinary authors whose fiction efforts could challenge even the very best Backstreet "books". Now, I am by no means forcing you to heed my recommendations, but let me make it clear that you would be making a HUGE mistake if you let your boyband preferences deter you from clicking on these enthralling pieces/sites. I would venture to say that a large (and we're talking, "large as in the size of Russia BEFORE the break up") part of my current infatuation with the men of N SYNC is a direct result of the breathtaking fiction I've had the pleasure of reading.
I must warn you that a great deal of these links will be inappropriate for those under the age of 18 (or 21, depending on where you live). Many of the fiction recommendations here will be of the "slash" genre (featuring same sex relationships), and while that's not typically something I read and support, these stories far transcend the need to place importance on sexual pairing. They're THAT good. HOWEVER, read at your own risk and please do NOT email me exclaiming over my taste in fan fiction.
On that note, please feel free to send me YOUR N Sync fic recommendations, I'd absolutely love to serve up more Four Star N Sync Picks to feed YOUR guilty pleasure.
FictionLyn's N SYNC Fiction written and maintained by Lyn. Though not technically a "new find", this four star is listed as such due entirely to Lyn's latest foray in fan fic. While the Lyn Lobby boasts such classics as "Because of You" and "If She Only Knew", the utterly captivating "Sometimes I Wish" is the paragon of "Four Star Quality", and quite possibly Lyn's best to date. Even marginal N SYNC fans such as myself, cannot stay away from this in depth, ultra personal, and enigmatic tale. Guaranteed to make you point and click to the very last update, "Sometimes I Wish" and each of the other pieces are well worth your time -and then some.
My Surprise Romance, written and maintained by Gabriella Morrison. Hands down one of the *best* stories you'll EVER read, "My Surprise Romance" breaks stereotypes left and right while drawing you into one of the most complex and touching relationships on the web. Top notch dialogue is a driving force behind Gabriella's tale, and the real life issues contained therein is not something you'll soon forget. In a word: "magical". Whether you're of a mind to sample slash for the first time or if you're a longstanding slash devotee, this story is for you. Please mind all warnings and disclaimers posted on the site.
N SYNC Stories n Stuff, written and maintained by Fly Girl and Story Girl. The first N Sync fiction site I inadvertantly wandered into, both of these women know how to serve up a veritable FEAST of fics! With a humorous touch, fab dialogue, and unique premises, their stories are most certainly worth reading. Every piece is a winner, but I particularly recommend "Coming Around" and "Broken Promises".
Not Yer Momma's Fanfic, written by Marianne. A division of "Not Yer Momma's N SYNC", a humor website, Marianne's stories (found on "The A Side") are sure fire hits! With a sense of humor that rivals even the best Vegas comedic act, her many works are certain to have you falling out of your computer chair in stitches. But more than that, they are truly some of the most unique, enchanting reads available for your viewing pleasure. I've fallen in love with the series, "The Cynic's Love Stories", and I'm equally enamoured with, "The Stalker Chronicles". Don't waste another moment, point and click. Trust me.
The Studio, written and maintained by Chris J. If there's one word to describe Chris J's work, it's got to be "enrapturing". From the first paragraph of her story, "Not A Pretty Boy", I have been a helpless slave to Chris J's updates. Reader beware, this is another site featuring slash fiction, but again - this is one of those pieces where sexual pairing doesn't even begin to matter in the great scheme of things, it's simply about the expertly woven story Chris J unfolds for our entertainment. "Ever After", a poignant piece centered around an emotional post-rehab Joey, is also well worth your time.
All I Ever Wanted: Slash Fiction, written and maintained by nsyncgrrl. Being rendered totally speechless by someone's supreme talent doesn't usually happen to me. Usually. However, in this case, I have no choice but to make an exception. Suffice it to say that I check this site DAILY for updates; when they're aren't any additions to be found, I'm worse off than I am in the morning, pre-latté! While each story is written to stand on it's own, I recommend that you read them in order, form the top of the listing to the bottom because each scene (story) adds up to form a "bigger picture". The result: one of the most ADDICTING reads on the whole freaking internet. While much of it features around a relationship that grows between Justin and Lance, the stories are ALL diverse, ALL excellent, and ALL well worth your time. I lost sleep over this site, people. I am not exaggerating when I say that nsyncgrrl has a knack for poignancy and is brilliance incarnate. Point. And. Click. Now.
More to come as I continue to head down "the dark road"! LOL.
That's all I've got to serve up for now. If you know of a four star piece YOU think is missing, by all means, email me and let me know. Remember, these are just a few of my faves, I can take all the help I can get from fellow "Fan Fic Connoisseurs". ;) Thanks for takin' a gander at my version of a ****Four Star Menu****
