Joey Beltram
"One of early techno's biggest stars, New Yorker Joey Beltram debuted as Rhythm Interface with 'Hard Freestyle' on Easy Street in 1989. Moving to Nu Groove in 1990, he released two EPs as Code 6 and one as Lost Entity. Indeed, 1990-91 was a profilic period for Beltram, with the classic 'Let It Ride' as Direct (Alibi) being licensed to R&S, which led to the 'Beltram Volume 1' EP on R&S. This turned Beltram into a techno star almost overnight, thanks in part to 'Energy Flash', which changed the direction of techno towards a darker, harder sound. The follow-up, 'Mentasm', as Second Phase recommended just as influential and is rightly credited with launching the distinctive Hoover sound. He also collaborated with Richie Hawtin on 'Vortex' under the guise of Final Exposure in 1991. Beltram had made it. Following his excellent EP for Warp in 1994 ('The Caliber EP'), Tresor offered Beltram a new home in 1995. His tough, minimal sound was perfect for the label, and he released the classic 'Game Form' 12-inch and the impressive album 'Places' for them. His next port of call was Novamute. There, in 1996, he released another impressive album under his JB3 monicker, entitled 'Close Grind'. At the same time, R&S Records released the essential 'Classic' album, containing all of Beltram's seminal early classics. Since 1999, Beltram has mainly recorded for STX, honing a funkier sound, as showcased on the highly recomended 'Arena'." Muzik magazine January 2003.

Beltram actually gave Liam a few production hints "back in the days" when Liam was just beginning his recording career and even though Liam didn't directly sample Beltram's 'Mantasm' it's clear that the sound had a huge influence on 'Charly'.

    Moby

This remix, however, wasn't released on the single but it's available on a freebie CD.

    CJ Bolland
A Belgian DJ and artist. He remixed 'No Good (Start The Dance)'. Liam: "This mix is from the master of the acid sound. CJ Bolland pissed the Prodigy off in 1996 when he sampled lyrics from 'Poison' to his track 'Sugar Is Sweeter'.

    The Chemical Brothers
Ed Simons & Tom Rowlands (The Chemical Brothers) "Former Manchester University students Tom Rowland and Ed Simons got started on the world domination by pinching the name of The Dust Brothers, the legendry US producers famous for their work on the Beastie Boys 'Paul's Butique' album. They initially just DJed under the name, as at the time Tom was part of the early Nineties Balearic group Ariel, but in 1993 they borrowed some money and pressed up 500 copies of their first single, 'Song To The Siren' on Dust Brothers Recordings. Tom subsequently left Ariel and Junior Boy's Own re-released 'Song To The Siren' with mixes by The Sabres Of Paradise. In 1994, Thee Dust Brothers released two more twelves on Junior Boy's Own. The '14th Century Sky' EP on JBO's Collect series included the classic 'Chemical Beats', a continuation of the big beat sound they'd originated with their debut. ... The cheeky use of the Dust Brothers' name had to cease in 1995 after a threat of legal action from the originals. They took their new name from 'Chemical Beats', which they reckoned to be their track so far and signed to Virgin Records, who released their debut album 'Exit Planet Dust'." Muzik magazine October 2000.

Chemicals' remix was originally released under their original name, the Dust Brothers, in 1994 but due to copyright reasons they had to change the remix title later. Liam used two Chemicals' tracks, 'Chemical Beats' and '(Best Part Of) Breaking Up', on his DJ compilation 'Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One'.

    Environmental Science
A British dance act who remixed 'Poison'. Liam: "This track is quite a dubby mix from these boys. I like the way that they have edited the beats up and that the vocal sounds very cool with the delay effect on it. This gives the whole track a different angle."
