According to Liam, 'Fire' is the worst video that they have done, but it was the most pleasant video to do. The video was shot in Welsh, with the band around a camp fire. The camera disappears inside each of their head's so that we can see what is going on within. At the end, Liam puts a Mixmag magazine's "did Charly killed the rave?" issue in the fire. This video is only available on rare 'XL - The Video Chapter' (XLV 014), which was released before Christmas 1992. It contained 'Charly', 'Everybody In The Place' and 'Fire' by The Prodigy, and videos from Liquid, SL2, House of Pain and other XL groups of the time. Out Of Space Director: Russell Curtis. Keith acting like he would be out of space and lots of other stupid footage. Available on Electronic Punks video. Wind It Up (Rewound) Director: Russell Curtis. Poison Director: Walter Stern. A "basement movie" style video. Liam tries to beat Keith to death. Again MTV censorred some scenes from this video. The actual video and footage of makeing 'Poison' video is available on Electronic Punks video. Firestarter Director: Walter Stern. Actually there are two totally different videos of 'Firestarter'. The first version of 'Firestarter' video didn't have Prodigy in it and the video didn't please the band and soon after they contacted Walter Stern. Filming took place at the disused Aldwych tube station in February '96. The budget was £30,000. The video provoked lots of complains from angry parents who said that Keith looked too scary. Breathe Director: Walter Stern. The video is about the energy and vibe that is between Keith and Maxim on stage. Liam originally wanted a hippo for this video but others convinced that a crocodile was an easier for shooting the video. Breathe' won 'Best video of the year' at the MTV Music Awards 1997. Smack My Bitch Up Director: Jonas Åkerlund (born 1965). Violence, sex, drugs and alcohol - when Prodigy released 'Smack My Bitch Up' they decided that if the track wasn't going to be played on radio, they didn't want the track to be played on TV. That's why the video is, what it is. Director Jonas Åkerlund got inspired after one evening out, and the video is basically that evening. The club scenes were shot at the Base Club in London but the members of the band don't appear on the video. The video was rarely played on telly and it recieved a lot of critic due to its violent and sexist contest. Jonas Åkerlund has directed videos for Moby, Cardigans, U2, Metallica and Madonna. In 2003 Åkerlund directed the video of Keith Flint's solo project's single 'Aim 4'. Baby's Got A Temper Director: Traktor. The video was based on a dream Liam had about playing live in front of a herd of cattle, the video was filmed in Prague in Chzech Republic. "We built a funfair in the grounds of this power station and we had an arena of cows and three guys go to work as the band and play to these cows, who generate milk. No-one’s allowed in this arena with the cows, the cows are milked and the milk’s passed out through a gap to the people." In exchange, the people in the video hand over money and jewellery. "’Cos the milk is like their fucking buzz, y’know, it’s like a drug reference I guess. This one will be memorable. This is a good video." -Liam. The video is available on 'Baby's Got A Temper' DVD single. Traktor have directed over 300 ads and done music videos for Basement Jaxx (Where's Your Head At), Fatboy Slim (Ya Mama) and Layo & Bushwacka! (Love Story). |
