Chapter 4

Everyone was on their feet and running to the basement in seconds. Ally made it there first and screamed at what she saw. Jen, Isaac, and Taylor burst in the door next, followed by the rest of the group.

Zac lay on the floor with his eyes closed and a red substance dripping from his neck onto the floor.

Nathan walked towards his best friend and picked up his limp wrist. "I can't find a pulse!" Nathan exclaimed as he ran his hand through his hair.

"Oh my God," Jen whispered as Isaac and Taylor walked to their brother.

"It's blood," Taylor said softly as he looked at the substance on Zac's neck.

"There looks to be a wound," Nathan said as he pointed to Zac's neck. There were two small holes in Zac's neck.

Ally started to walk towards Zac, but Jen, Kate, and Amber began holding her back. "Let go of me!" Ally shrieked.

"No," Jen, Kate, and Amber said together. Ally broke free and ran to Zac. She leaned down and touched his neck, looking for a pulse.

"He's dead," Ally whispered. "Oh my God. He's dead!" she screamed.

"But how!" Jen said, pushing her hair off her face.

"Can't you see!" Ally exclaimed. "The two holes on his neck! It was a vampire!"

"Listen to yourself," Caroline said. "You're not making any sense. Vampires do not exist!"

"Then what happened?"

"I don't know!" Caroline exclaimed.

At that moment, Zac sat up, kissed Ally, and began laughing. "I got you guys good," he said between laughs.

It took everyone a few minutes to grasp what had just happened.

"You @$$hole!" Kate yelled.

"Don't you ever scare me like that again!" Ally yelled and punched Zac on the arm.

"Ow," Zac said as he grabbed his arm. "I'm sorry, guys, it was just too easy."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. "Don't you ever do anything like that again!" Jen exclaimed.

"Come on," Zac said as he got up and wiped his neck off. "Let's party!"

"I should have known," Isaac and Taylor mumbled as they followed the group to Jen's living room.
