Chapter 5

"Bye, guys," Jen said as she waved goodbye to the guys.

"I'm sorry about Zac," Isaac said. "I know what he did really shook you up."

"Yes, it did," Jen said as she took a deep breath, "but I'll be OK."

"Are you sure?" Isaac asked.

"Yeah," Jen said shakily.

"Remember, I'm right next door if you need me."

"Thank you, Isaac," Jen said as she hugged him. They kissed and then Jen went inside and quietly shut the door.

"I can not believe what your boyfriend did," Diana said.

"Neither can I," Ally said.

"We should have known," Jennifer said.

"Do you really think there is a vampire running around Tulsa?" Gwen asked.

"No!" Jen said. "If vampires really existed, do you think they'd make movies about it?"

"Maybe the movies are preparing us," Bonnie said quietly.

"I don't think people go around sucking," Jen began, but was interrupted by a scraping sound at the window.

"What was that?" Katrina asked.

"I don't know," Jen said. "It sounded like it came from the den." The group of girls slowly made their way towards the den. Jen cautiously pulled back the curtain.

"No one is there," Ally said with a sigh of relief.

"It was probably just the wind," Paris said rationally.

Jen thought she saw something in the moonlight. She narrowed her eyes and saw a thin figure emerge in the moonlight. It was a woman, and she had long, black hair. Jen thought she was seeing things, but then the woman looked at her. She had the palest blue eyes Jen had ever seen. Jen rubbed her eyes, and the woman was gone.

"Come on, Jen," Kate said as she tugged on her friend's arm.

"I thought I saw something," Jen said as she looked at Kate. She then looked back out the window.

"It was probably just a dog," Cassy said.

"But.....I thought it was a woman," Jen said.

"It could have been a neighbor," Tasha said.

"Yeah, probably," Jen sighed.
