Maselang Bahaghari....sa aking isipan...
Barely 5 days after the release of "Natin99", MASELANG BAHAGHARI just hit the no. 1 spot of the NU 107 Midnight Countdown last May 24! Maselang Bahaghari , which I think is about Ely Buendia's seeing-the-sunshine-after-the-rain life drama, debuted at No. 5 the week before, and with its sudden rise to no. 1 pulled down 5-week chart-topper Butterfly Carnival (a hit by Raimund's other band Sandwich) to the number 2 spot. A real healthy competition huh? No offense intended for Sandwich fans ha... =)

Eheads' NATIN99
out on May 18

THEY came out with two all-English albums in the past -- "Fruitcake" and "Aloha Milkyway"(except "...El Bimbo"). And now it's all set. Finally we'll all soon have a taste of an all-Tagalog album from our favorite band. The album, which is happily entitled "NATIN99" is scheduled to be released on May 18, to be followed by a big launching concert at the SM Megatrade Hall on May 30. Its carrier single "Maselang Bahaghari" is currently enjoying a lot of airplay in several radio stations and will surely hit the countdowns soon.
It's about time the Eheads came out with an album like this one. After their successful venture into the Asian music scene (with Aloha Milkyway reaching PLATINUM!) singing songs like "Julie Tearjerky," "Tamagotchi Baby," and "Saturn Return," it's nice to think that we'll soon have a chance to listen to them sing Tagalog songs once again. We sure missed them belting out tunes like "Pare Ko," "Ligaya," "Toyang," "Kailan," "Magasin," "Alapaap," "Minsan," "Overdrive," "Ang Huling El Bimbo," "Torpedo," "Huwag Mo Nang Itanong," "Harana," and "Kaliwete." These were the kind of songs most of their fans have grown to love.
So with the new materials in the new album, I bet "NATIN99" would again bring Eheads music to the airwaves, to the countdowns and even to the awards nights!

Circus named Best Virtual Community

AT the 5th Philippine Internet anniversary celebration, Circus , a discussion group focused on talks about the number one pop rock band Eraserheads, bagged the Best Virtual Community -- Discussion Groups Category Award. This award is given to the mailing list, newsgroup, or web forum that has the most impact or sense of community.
Now on its 8th month of existence, Circus boasts of a membership composed of almost 300 netizens both from the Philippines and abroad, Pinoys and non-Pinoys alike, with ages ranging from 12 to 36, making the list one of the most active discussion groups in Philippine cyberspace. And this population is still expected to grow more now that "Natin99", the 'Heads 7th full-length album, gets closer to its release date.

Circus is managed by none other than Philmusic.com's award-winning webmaster Mr. Jim "Ringmaster" Ayson himself. He created this list in August of 1998.
So come and join us and be part of our fun-filled and interesting discussions in CIRCUS -- 1999's Best Virtual Community. More clowns, acrobats, jesters, and whatnots are still welcome. To join, just send a blank e-mail to eraserheads-subscribe@egroups.com or go to www.egroups.com/list/eraserheads for more details. Join in and be part of the fun!

Ely directs
new video

HAVE you seen the latest Eraserheads music video on MTV? The one where Ely was dressed as a harlequin, Buddy as a bear, Raimund as a ball, Noel as building blocks and Marcus as Elmo? If you have, then you're one of those lucky few who first set eyes on Eheads' rhythm guitarist and vocalist Ely Buendia's first directorial job. I'm talking about the new video of the classic song "With A Smile". It was a big hit in 1995 and is now one of everyone's all-time favorite Eraserheads songs. And if you still recall, the band came out with a video of the same song 4 years ago but were asked by BMG to shoot another one to coincide with its 1998 re-release this time for the Asian market.
Of course Ely worked on this in collaboration with his co-director Mark Villena, an ex- member of another Pinoy band called Tungaw. In an e-mail to E-site, Ely wrote,"We went through hell doing that video so I don't want to hear any negative thing about it." So for Ely, I take a line from With A Smile, "..baby you don't have to worry, 'coz there ain't no need to hurry, no one's ever said that there's an easy way..." You really don't have to worry because there's nothing negative to say about the video. Ely, it's a job VERY WELL DONE! (sipsip ba?)
