mentioned the trainer
thing)
The whole album sounded amazing, i can't
wait till it comes out! they then left the stage
and came back a few minutes later with the
encore! Hoorah, i could sense that the
majority of the audience only knew blur from
Song 2 or Parklife!
The encore consisted of :
11th Feb 1999 - Blur Play Stockholm!
Blur played a third warm-up gig for their new
album '13' on Thursday night (11 February) at the
Munchenbryggeriet (Munich Brewery) in Stockholm, Sweden. Sweden was chosen as a venue
because guitarist Graham Coxon's girlfriend is Swedish. Previous sites for Blur warm-ups have
included the London Camden Town Dublin Castle - this was their first warm up outside the UK.
Heres a review by someone from the Zeal mailing list:
star.shaped@telia.com (Pelle Mattsson)
To: zeal@blur.org.uk (ZEAL)
And here is the full story.....with all it's glitter and glamour!
The show started at 21:00 swedish time......it wasn't that delayed...just a few minutes. The band came on
and said: "Hello...we are blur and we are gonna play u are new albu 13 from begining to end!"
Here is the setlist:
____________________________
Oh...and I recorded the whole show on MD and it came
out great!!! I listen to it all the time!!! I really like all the
songs...it's great!!!
Ok...some details here then....
Damon made some funny mistakes during the show:
1. He started to intruduce the wring song ("1992") "Here is a really old song I found in a box...." And
Graham screams "Wha, wha, wha, wha, wha wha, no, no, no, no, wha, wha, what..." and points at the
setlist on the floor. Damon says: "No it's not" and Graham replies " Don't do that, freaks me out!" And
everyone starts to laugh. So Funny. The Damon says something like "THE FEAR (or the feal - I'm not
sure)" and does a surf thing with his arms! And then "Swamp song" starts off!!!! YEAH!!!!
2. Damon forgets the first chord to "Mellow Song" and he says: "I forgot the chord.......oh I got it now!"
And the songs starts!
3. Before "No Distance left to run" Damon gets the microphone wire around his guitar before a
song...and he says: " I made a mess.....hang on......so......." And the song starts!
Some of the audience started screaming the ever so famous among blur fans "Let's all 'ave a disco"
thing. And then Graham makes a grin and laughs and starst playing the guitars (badly) for "GILRS &
BOYS" while bouncing around on the stage.... it seemed very ironic.
And I think sometime between two songs it sounds like Graham starts to play the intro for his song
"Mornin Blues".
It was a great show....and it finshed of with some great songs aswell as you can see....IT WAS
BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!
Ok after the consert we went to the aftershow party......at this swedish in bar called SPY BAR...(a
horrible place)
We stood outside for awhile and the Damon came in this big car. I called his name but he didn't hear
me....and he went inside.
The dave and Alex showed up...signed our tickets....Alex was a bit drunk already and laughed when the
signing part didn't go to well.
The after liek 30 min.....we had almost given up on Graham.....he showed up with his Swedish girlfriend
Anna....and he signed some autographs for us.....and he was sort of drunk allready! My girlfriend has a
pic of him.....I hope it turns out good!!!!
I asked Graham if he could get us in and he said "Get you in!!!! No!"
The I Asked him if I could have his wine instead ( he had this litle plastc mugg with wine with him). He
said " If yoiu can have my wine?!?!?!....Why?!?!?!" I said: "Coz you can get free inside and I can't" He
understood....and gave me his glass of wine....I still have it!!!! Graham also complaind about the
Swedish coled, I apologised for it....*s*
The I managed to get a vip pass from a this press guy who had already been inside and was going
home....but I didn't get in anyway! The after awhile of trying to get in...we went home!!!
I have some photos from the show as well...I hope they are good...I havn't seen them yet! But If there are
any good I can send them to Jamie and he can put them on his site if he want to! And I can send the VIP
pass and the autographs as well....if you would like to see them!!!!!
I read in a Swedish newspaper that Graham has decided on the Learn Swedish now...because of his
new girlfriend and because he wants to understand the lyrics of the Swedish band "BOB HUND" (Bob
dog) wHich he finds very good! ANd they are!!!
I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I enjoyed the whole thing!!!!
If you have any questions...feel free to mail me!!!!!!!!

DAMON ALBARN ON "FACE"
This is what I typed in from NME about damon talking about the film "FACE" (or
another review) when it came out in the UK cinemas.
The retail release is out now in the UK! Buy it here!
"I wasn't looking for an acting role at all. I did it because I knew a couple of the
people involved. But I think the best thing about think we genuinely got on. We felt
like a gang.
"I was very aware of the baggage popstars bring to films. The first day of shooting I
didn't turn up until really late because I chickened out. Then my manager rang and
said I would get sued for lots of money if I didn't turn up, so I came along. It was
sheer fear.
"I went to drama school so at some point I always felt I would act. I had to really, my
mum was very upset when I left drama school. I found it very difficult the first week;
then I just sort of allowed myself to relax and it was enjoyable after that. It's very
difficult thing performing onstage compared to acting on screen.
"I did the same kind of research as everyone else, to be honest. But i've got one
thing that my dad's always told me which I remembered. He had a gallery in the
Whitechapel Road in the 60's and one day all the windows got smashed. Someone
from the Kray's family came by and said they wouldn't get smashed if he gave him a
bit of money. He didn't give him any, he left. That's my tedious link with the world of
crime!"

A long distance runner in America
I'm running,
Not through my own effort,
From town to town.
What ingenuity, to run without running.
If I eliminate everything, except motion,
And give it no beginning or end,
Then you see me as I am.
