Jamie Ely

Jamie on the kit.

Jamie is the overall stabilizing factor in the band with both his precise rhythm and personality. His powerful style is evident in every song and innovative percussion abounds, especially on the title track of the CD Get Used To It, where in addition to the kit, he laid down nine tracks of percussion using everything from traditional instruments to pipes and dust pans.

Senior PictureSculptureCurrently living in Southwestern Stark county, Jamie is recuperating from injuries sustained in an auto accident last year and will be having additional surgery and rehab for a badly broken leg that will keep him sidelined until after the New Year 2000. He graduated from Massillon High School in 1972 and later attended Kent State University studying forestry and natural resources. His hobbies include reading, especially Western U.S. history, and mountain climbing. Jamie is also an avid bicycle rider. He and a friend rode from Ohio to Seattle, Washington in the mid ‘70's and then to top it off, climbed Mt. Rainier! He loves to travel and has crisscrossed the country by many means including hitchhiking, bicycle, train and car. One of his current favorite destinations is the Outer Banks of the Carolinas. Jamie is also an sculptor, selling his wares out of his own studio in the past and in shops for many years.

Playing drums since the mid 60's, Jamie started because of the Beatles and has been largely influenced by artists of the British invasion: The Who, Climbing Mt. Ranier Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, The Kinks, Genesis, Elton John and PhilWith Ken Venturi - for you golfers out there! Collins. Tho’ an awesome, perfectionist drummer, he would be a lead guitarist if he could start over again and really enjoys powerful licks by a strong lead guitar in a song like those in Perfect Love, a song he originally played with Gary in the band Katz-’n-Jammer during the mid 1980's. Other bands Jamie has performed with over the years include: Automatic Slim, Masquerade, White Mike and the V-Necks, and LTD.

We are all anxious for Jamie’s full recovery and return to formidable drumming early in the new millennium. In the meantime he will be appearing with; the other members of the band at various promotional events surrounding the release of Get Used To It, and you can contact him by email at jamie@delirioustremors.com.
