Once the design had been finalised, Richard Gray photographed Freddie's statue in a field near his house and then superimposed it onto the photos of the house and lake. Either the tree to the right of the picture was in the field (and someone forgot to edit it out), or it was actually in Switzerland (and someone deliberately edited it out after).
Does anyone either know the real answer, or have any good suggestions?
As for the swans - I know it looks as if they're in different places at first glance, but imagine three swans all flying in a row, with one hidden by a band-member's head in each photo. They might just be in the same place then.
If so, doesn't it mean that the photos are identical? Well, not necessarily. Richard Gray actually said "I flew out and ... shot the house over two evenings for the 'sunset' shot, and one very early morning for the 'sunrise', to get the different light." Birds flying in formation is nothing extraodinary, although managing to capture them in the same place is quite astonishing!
