History

Emperor was formed in Norway back in 1992. Consists of there members Ygg(Ihsahn) - vocals/guitars,  Samot(Samoth) - drums and Mortiis - bass; with the Thou Shalt Suffer. They later changed their name to Emperor and recorded a demo, Wrath of the Tyrant. In 1993, Emperor released a spllit LP with Enslaved, also from Norway. Faust then joined the band and Samoth switched to guitar. With the release of the split LP, the name Emperor became well known in Norway's Black Metal scene. Under Samoth's own independent label, Emperor released a 7" EP, As the Shadows Rise. In 1994, Mortiis left the band to pursue his own career. Then came Tchort to take over Mortiis's place. They released an LP in the same year, In The Nightside Eclipse. This release has became well known to Black Metal hordes and then came troubles to Emperor. Faust had been arrested for MURDER. He killed a homosexual after that dweeb hit him and Faust mutilated him! Faust was also arrested for church burning in Norway. In the same time, Samoth was also arrested for arson and was sentenced to jail. Hellhammer took over Faust's place and Alver took Tchort's place. Tchort went into the prison for murder and also because he lived too far away and didn't show up for rehearsals. His daughter then died because of "a curse", according to Tchort himself. Hellhammer was unable to continue with Emperor and ex-Enslaved drummer; Trym, joined the band. With this new line-up changes, Emperor released an EP, Reverence, previewing their next sound. In late 1997, Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk was released. This is a great release but for some what reason, was considered as dissappointment to their fans, but not me. A new member playing synthesizers was recruited this year and he is called Charmand G. We'll wait and see how will their next release will sound like.
