College Program
Reflection Page
This page is going to have little (I stress little!) updates about my Disney College Program experience. I will feature my roommates and information about them.
First of all I received my six credit hours for completion of the program from my college. Thanks School! I am now back in school and I have only two semesters left after this one to complete my degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Sounds kinda fancy huh? Well I don't think it is. Anyway, this semester seems to be like all the other ones. Easy. Which is good, I am not complaining one bit.
Well for the program…Would I do it again? Well for six credits, Yes. For the great group of guys and girl I met, Yes. For working for next to nothing? NO! Honestly if I wouldn't have had a car I would have gone insane. And if I wouldn't have been getting college credit I think I would have left after about a month and a half. It just got so repetitive. The fun wore off for me quick. I mean it was okay. I think I would have liked it a little better if I had a better job. Mind you I did have a job that was a lot better than others. But the people I worked with were kinda so so. At all of the other parks, people had little parties for the College Program and fun things when they left. I was lucky if on some nights, people would even say hi to me. And I don't think my managers hardly even knew when I was there and when I wasn't. This one guy had been in the Military and was demoted from a good Disney job to managing the front entrance of EPCOT. That guy wouldn't even say hi, and he was pathetic. He wouldn't say anything to you, like he was scared or something. Anyway.. It WAS an experience. It WAS an unforgettable summer. And I don't think I will be going back TOO soon. Nice to visit and get free things, not too fun to work your life away there. At least from my position….I do miss everyone I lived with and being able to go do things. Anything at all! Where I live it is not so exciting! Anyway…On with my …..
Roommates
First of all there was Ted from West Virginia. Ted worked at the soon to be closing attraction, "Back Stage Pass" at MGM. He is a crazy fellow. He would say and do just about anything in order to shock someone, and to just please himself. He can make some interesting comments. Ted is doing something with computers for his college degree. Ha..I don't know what it is…Ted tell me what your doing…He loves Star Wars and The Dave Matthew's Band. We would go messing around the resorts a lot together. We could get into anywhere in Disney property if we wanted to. We had all kinds of fun at The Swan and The Dolphin. Ted is a good friend and a crazy guy.
Next would be Travis. Travis was loud, messy and violent! I am just joking. Travis was one of the calmest persons I have ever met. Travis worked custodial at MGM. Travis is from Colorado where he loves to listen to Aerosmith. ( I feel like I am hosting the Dating Game. ) Aerosmith is to Travis like the Pumpkins are to me. He will buy anything with their names on it! We got the opportunity to see the band at the opening of Rock and Roller Coaster at MGM Studios. That was cool for me and cooler for Travis. Travis will do just about anything. "As long as we are doing something!" was his motto. He is a "S" so he gets along well with others. He is studying computer systems or something?
Well I guess next we would have Edil from Puerto Rico. Check out Edil's Web Page! What can I say? Nice, polite, clean cut, well dressed, and well mannered. Everything I am not. That’s why we got along so well. He worked as a merchandise host at Animal Kingdom. Edil loves movies and music. His favorite move is Scream. He watches movies a lot, and has tons of friends. This guy always had something to do. He would always be going out with friends from his work or whereever. Edil is an Engineering Major I think. He loved his Disney experience the most out of us all. He really hated to leave the dump…I mean place. A great friend and a nice fellow.
Mark…Mark…hmmm…Say something good here….um…..Well, He was my real roommate. The end…No really, he was cool. He drove the boats at Magic Kingdom and loved tying up Ferries. Mark is from West Virginia also. He loves music, Queen, Sade..Anything that I think stinks he liked. No…He likes all kinds of music. He plays drums and guitar. He would always wake me up playing, "Cool Jazz". Grrrrr…He really had a good time down there in Disney World. Mark was the girl Magnet. Ya, I don't know why either! None of us could figure it out! HA!! There would be girls calling all the time for Mark. "Mark this is Andrea! Pick up the phone Mark!" beep!!! Well, the babe magnet is studying Engineering in WV. He loves his home state! Cool guy Mark…
And well there is one more. Nick. A.K.A "The Mad Crapper!" Nick worked at Typhoon Lagoon. They wouldn't let him work in a real park. This boy no one really got along with. Yes, there is always one and he was it. He was fine at first but when he would rip down our notes, and not clean his dishes, things changed quickly. He would take hour showers and never clean up after himself. One night the toilet overflowed and we figured out it was him, Did he ever say anything? Or try to clean it up? No! The Mad Crapper strikes again! Nick is from Louisiana and is supposedly studying to be an Architect. Keep practicing Nicky.
Well I guess that will be it for now. Check back. I might put a few pics here and contact info for these losers if anyone would want it…Until next time….
