MUSIC
I have always enjoyed music and it has been a major influence on my life. I have played guitar for many years and written quite a few songs, some good, some not so good. I also played the trombone and the tuba during the 5-10 grades. I enjoy many types of music. I like Oldies, Rockabilly, Alternative, Jazz, Blues, Classical and just about anything else that has feeling and talent behind it. Some of my favorite bands and artists are: The Smashing Pumpkins (#1 on my list), Radiohead, REM, Hum, Elvis Presley, Superdrag,LIT, The Doors, Weezer. I tend to get into ruts where I will listen to something (like a certain CD or band)over and over, and then I won't listen to anything else for awhile.

COLLECTING
I guess I got the habit of collecting from my parents. They tend to never throw anything away. So, in turn, I ended up there too. I started out by saving all of the magazines I would buy. Then I collected a few comics. But what really got me started was seeing a bit about Peter Parker (Spiderman) getting married, on Entertainment Tonight. And I knew then, that I had to get that comic. So I did. And it got me collecting more and more. I then started collecting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comics. The Archie Comic ones. I wasn't smart enough then to know that they wouldn't be worth anything now. At this same point in my life, I was collecting baseball cards. I obtained quite a number of these, and that was just about all the fun I had with them. Then I stopped with all of that for some time. Until I got a record player for Christmas a few years ago. That started me collecting records. I was always attracted to records, but with out anything to play them on, what was the use. So now I collect records quite a bit. (I have kind of held off because I don't have anywhere to put them all!) I like Smashing Pumpkins records the best. But I collect anything that is cheap and cool. I also started collecting toys after I realized that if I hadn't opened up my toys and played with them as a kid, I would have a small fortune now. So I mainly collect Star Wars, DC Comic's toys, and Spawn. And also other toys that are just cool. Comics also made a comeback in my collecting habit. I currently just buy: Robin, Nightwing(The Dick Grayson Robin all grown up), Danger Girl (a bunch of girls that kick butt like James Bond), Starman (a really well written comic about well, Starman. You just have to read it. Thanks Dennis),Herobear and the Boy, Top 10, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,Promethia, and the trade paper backs of Sin City (crime storys by the best, Frank Miller). And a few others here and there. Any thing by Alan Moore is great!!
I usually do my collecting around the South-West corner of Missouri. I go to Toys-R-US in Joplin Missouri a lot to satisfy my toy needs. Then I will go to The Book Barn in Joplin too. It has tons of comics and records, and just what ever you need. They are cool about new comics, but the other stuff is pretty high. Hello Dennis! My records come from a selection of flea markets and Antique places around the area. Like my friend Randy said, "It best to find bargins in places that are dirty. If it's clean, you won't find a bargin." Well he said something like that, so look for dirty places they normally have the best deals for your money. And trust me, there are plenty of dirty places around here.

PARANORMAL
Well, the paranormal has always been an interest to me. Merely an interest, nothing really more. I have just found it fascinating that there could be "something more" out-there. The movie Ghostbusters was a catalyst in my interest in ghosts. My cousins and I would dress up like the Ghostbusters and run around in the dark trying to find something. Also, on of my cousins really had an interest in the paranormal too. He was older and wiser on the subject, and added fuel to my fire. There is a light near where I live called the "Spook Light". It has been there forever, and we would go out there and look at it on occasions. It really intrigued me. We would go out there and talk to visitors about the light. But most of the people out there just go out there to drink. Check out my page about the Hornet Spook light at the end of the Paranormal section. I also have been interested in Ghosts and folklore in the Ozarks. I heard stories about a ghost in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, at the Crescent Springs Hotel. So my friends and I went down there to check it out. We didn't see anything, but the place is creepy enough without ghosts! So I have this onward interest about things that happen, that aren't supposed to happen.
PARANORMAL LINKS
Here is my Hornet Spook Light page. The Hornet Spook Light. It is about 7 miles
from Joplin. It is an unexplained light that appears down an old country road. It moves around, changes colors, and changes intensity. I have seen it many times, and it is very real. Check it out. The page isn't too big, but I'm planning to improve it in the future.
LOCAL AREA
Since I have lived in this area for most of my life, I would hopefully know something about it. There is actually quite a bit of interesting things around, all within a days drive.
Well, first of all there is Branson, Missouri. I am sure most of you have heard of Branson at some time or another. It is about two hours away from me. I have been going there all of my life. It has really exploded in the last ten years. It is a town that has a bunch of country and western singers in it, and also a lot of entertainment. But be prepared for "bumper to bumper" traffic, as I like to say. It has a lot of outlet malls, miniature golf, resturants, and shows to keep a person busy.
Carthage, Missouri has always been a favorite town of mine. I have (some-what fond) memories of marching with the high school band in the Mapel Leaf Parade. It is Missouri's longest parade (I think). Besides the Mapel Leaf Festival, Carthage has many historical homes that are very beautiful. It is fun to just drive around and look at them. There are several different tours throughout the year where you can see some of these homes first-hand. There are many flea markets and antique shops around town where you can find all sorts of things. Carthage is the home of many artistic people. Samuel J. Butcher, the creator of Precious Moments, lives here. He has designed and built a chapel in Carthage, with his painting inside of it. There are also many other attractions at the Precious Moments complex. Lowel Davis also lives in Carthage and has set up Red-Oak II. It is a recreation of his childhood home town. His art work and figures are on display here as well. With all of the attractions in Carthage, it would be very easy to spend a day or two there.
