PLOT: When music star Elvis Presely's Graceland mansion is opened to tourists, Bev (Sally Wittig) struggles with Rootie (Shannon Molloy) to see who'll be the first tourist to enter the building. A one-act comedy/drama.
HISTORY: On September 17, 1996, Clare asked me to record my
voice for one of the audio-taped portions of this one-act play.
Putting on a light Southern accent, I pretended to be a radio
DJ playing an Elvis music marathon.
My part was recorded in between some excerpts of Elvis songs,
and was played at the beginning of all three performances. It
was the first role I ever performed without having to be onstage
or backstage, though I did watch and video-tape the second
performance. I also helped open and close the curtain during the
third, last performance.
The same tape with my DJ announcement was used ten months later
in a summer '97 production of the same show.
