props to Star Search (one of my ACRN buds) for coming up with
the title to this one.
The
Set-up: Jill had been on a quest to get a Jumbo Bean Bag
Chair for her apartment. Apparently this is not something
that they carry ANYWHERE regularly.
The
Discovery: Coming home from a Christmas vacation, I discovered
that they had these bean bag chairs at the Wal-Mart in Fredrick
(about an hour away from her place). Later we discovered that
no local Wal-Marts had said item.
The
Purchase: So we drove to Fredrick, in my Altima. When
we finally found them in the store, I decided that I was going
to buy one. Jill decided that she wanted to buy TWO!
Of
course, here's where it get's interesting. We had to get two
carts to get the three monstrous bags to the counter. I stacked
one on her cart and two on mine. Needless to say, I couldn't
see while behind it, so imagine me in front of the cart, trying
to pull this thing down a crowded (post-Christmas) Wal-Mart
isle.
If
that's not funny enough, now image me trying to jam three
of these JUMBO bags into an Altima. The first one went in
the trunk, which we had to tie down. The second took up MOST
of my back seat.
Now
for the third, I sat there scratching my head (my years worth
of K-Mart knowledge was not helping me here), and the guy
next to me said, "Wait a minute, I need to run home and
get my video camera!"
Anyway,
I tried to cram this one in the passenger seat of my car.
It seemed like a good idea at the time. So I went to get in
the driver's seat and realize, not only can I not shift gears,
but driving is going to be near impossible. Not to mention
the fact that I wouldn't be able to see a damn thing on the
right side of my car.
So
needless to say, Jill had to take one of hers back, which
in retrospect wasn't a big deal, because she's in a studio
apartment and really didn't have the room for the second one
anyway.
So
the moral of the story is, if you want three Jumbo Bean Bag
Chairs, don't drive 60 miles in an Altima.
