On november 20th, 1959, George bought his Futurama guitar, the closest he could get then to a solid body, strato-look instrument. He used it for a while, then retired it in favour of better guitars. In the mid-sixties, editors of Beat Magazine approach the Beatles asking if they had some old instrument to donate for a contest. George then gave his Futurama, but the lucky winner on the competition preferred to get his prize in cash. The guitar then remained in posession of the magazine editor, who still has it. I wander if that fellow has any idea of what he let pass by. |
