While it's delightful to finally have this with a better sound quality, I'm afraid this is by far the less well suceeded of John's remastered editions so far. Looks like people involved simply didn't care much about it as for the other ones. Why, I can't understand.
The art is awful, I must say. My mother could do a better job on the photo editor that comes with her scanner. Not to mention the almost complete absence of interesting info, photos and all the classy stuff that graced all other previous remastered editions and all of John's recent releases. Why? And what's with all the copy protection logos all over the artwork?
The sound is ok, but it's not such a big difference as we experienced with "Imagine", for example. But "Rock and roll" did have a lot to improve, so I feel a better job could have been done, although it already sounds better than the original. I don't know; I think i was expecting something in the style of the tracks that appear on the Anthology box. Those ones... oh my God, they just blow me out.
Also, I can't understand why "Be my baby" isn't among the bonus.
I don't know. It's not that I didn't like it. But I've been expecting an improved "Rock and roll" for many years, and the previous reedition set a high standard that wasn't matched by this one.
