The next day the wedding project was in full swing. Nick called his parents first thing in the
morning and told them the plan. Stacie and Chloe went to find a wedding cake, and shoes, and the other members of the group were going through tons and tons of c.d.'s to find the right music for the soon to be couple to dance to. They were also trying to find stuff to be play during the reception after that first dance.
Nick got off the phone with his parents and went to see how the guys were doing with the music
search. "Hey guys, how's it goin? Find anything yet?" He asked sitting down on the couch.
"Yeah actually," Howie said. "We've got about, what, like, six songs we've narrowed it down to." Nick waited.
"Well tell me man dang." He said laughing.
"Oh right! Umm, okay, first we have Journey 'Faithfully', then, Jon B. 'Pride & Joy', Uh, with no pun intended, 'Anywhere for You', N*Sync's 'A Little More Time' 98º's 'Hand in Hand' and, Monica's 'Angel of Mine'" Howie summed up. Nick nodded.
"Good Choices. We'll wait for Stace and decide. 'Kay?" he said smiling. "So, Kevin, listen, I was thinking, when are yooou gonna pop the big question to Chloe?" He started laughing. They had been Kevin a hard time about being lovey dovey since they'd been back with the girls.
"Man lemme alone. I don't jump headfirst into that like you do son. I want to get to know her, find out her favorite things, and maybe have an anniversary or two first." He said blushing slightly. They spent the rest of the morning practicing Nick's vows. He had written some for this special occasion that he was going to surprise Stacie with.
While the guys were goofing off, the girls had been trying to find somebody to help them
out with a cake. "Maybe we could just make one." Chloe suggested as they walked out of the third bakery in town.
"What? How on Earth would we do that?" Stacie asked as they walked down the sidewalk.
"Well, we could just by cake pans that smaller and just make one. Just buy cake mix, frosting and find some little figurines to put on top." Chloe explained.
"Hmm, that's not a bad idea actually. And it'd probably be a LOT cheaper." Stacie agreed and they went to the nearest pot and pan store to find the cake pans.
The rest of the week was spent in a nervous frenzy getting the rest of the plans in order and getting everybody up to Virginia. Nick's family was gonna be there Friday in time to have the rehearsal dinner and talk to Stacie more. Stacie's dad would be there Friday evening. He'd done a good job so far of fending off Stacie's mom. So Thursday night everyone was anxiously awaiting morning. They'd been up all day, going by picking up tuxes, shoes, flowers, dresses, and food. They were all so tired they didn't even have the energy to clean up the apartment. They decided to watch t.v. They turned on MTV to see what was goin on when a News Brief came on.
"Hi, this is Serena Altschule with an MTV news brief. Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and girlfriend Stacie Redson are getting married this weekend. An anonymous source says that they're planning a private wedding with a few friends and family. And according to that source the Boys' management hasn't even heard about this and they're expected in the office in Florida on Monday morning. That's the news for now..." They clicked the TV off and sat there stunned.
"WHO THE HELL TOLD THEM?!?!?" Nick said raising his voice. At that moment the phone rang. "Hello?" Chloe answered it.
"Hello Chloe, been watching MTV?" It was Mrs. Redson, Stacie's mom.
"Oh umm, Hi Claire. Why do you want to know?" Chloe asked trying not to sound nervous.
"Oh no reason really, I was just wondering why my own daughter didn't want to tell me that she was getting married this weekend. And why I wasn't invited." Chloe couldn't believe that Claire could be this low.
"Actually, I really couldn't say I don't know what you're talking about." Chloe said trying to cover it up.
"Chloe don't lie to me I've known you too long for us to start lying to one another. Now, let me speak to my daughter. Oh and if she doesn't want to talk to me tell her that her father won't be able to give her away. He's being detained." Chloe closed her eyes trying to fight back the tears that were coming. She reluctantly handed the phone to Stacie.
"She said she's not letting your dad come." Stacie's face filled with panic. She took the phone and got up to go in the next room.
"Mom? Why are you doing this?" Stace said pushing the door to. The whole group sat in the living room listening in silence to the argument between Stacie and her
mom. After nearly an hour, Stacie came out eyes red and puffy and hung up the phone. She sat down by Nick.
"Hun, umm, I told her I was marrying you and I didn't care what she said. She said she'd cut me off completely and disown me. I told her I loved you and she could do whatever she wanted. She's pulling my tuition, and said she as gonna quit paying insurance on my car, and take away all my credit cards. I told her I loved you and I was going to marry you. She declared she didn't know me anymore and she doesn't have a daughter." Stacie was in tears and Nick put his arms around her to embrace her. Everyone else sat in a stunned silence.
After such an emotional night, everyone slept in. Chloe was the first one up and quietly
started picking up to make it look more presentable. Nick's family's plane was supposed to land at 11:30 and after they checked into their hotel, they were coming straight to the apartment. As she was straightening up the kitchen and putting the dishes in the dishwasher, Brian, Howie, and AJ woke up and after waking up a little started to help her out a little. After awhile the whole place looked great and since it was such a beautiful day, they opened the windows to air it out.
At 10 Nick woke up and showered and got ready to leave to go meet his parent's plane. Stace
was gonna go with him and while they were gone, everyone else was going to go gift shopping. Nick and Stace left at 10:45 and as soon as they were out of the building everybody started getting ready to go shopping. Chloe said she had special secret plans and she'd meet the guys at the store in an hour. Kevin looked at her funny, but he just kissed her and left with the guys.
After taking care of whatever it was she was arranging, Chloe went to meet the guys at the store. She caught up with them in time to save them from buying horrible dishes. She helped them find much better gifts and then they had them wrapped, took them home to hide them, and had time to fix them drinks before Nick's family got there.
At 1:00 Nick, Stacie and the Carter clan all showed up. Introductions were made and then everyone left to go to lunch. They had an excellent meal, and Nick's family seemed to love Stacie. After eating and visiting a little afterwards, they went to the site where the wedding was gonna be held. It was outside, on a cliff over looking a beautiful beach. They got there at about 4 o'clock and decided that they'd go ahead and start the rehearsal. Everything was running smoothly until they got to the part about Stacie walking down the aisle. After a little bit of explanation and discussion, Kevin said he'd be proud to walk her down the aisle. Stacie smiled a grateful smile but you could tell she wanted her
dad. After running through everything a few times they went back to the apartment to visit and waste some time before their dinner reservations. After dinner Nick and Stacie kissed and said
goodbye till the next day at 3 in the afternoon.
The girls had gone back to apartment and started packing clothes so they could leave
Sunday morning. At about 11:30 Chloe got a phone call that she went in the hallway to take.
After she came back in, Stacie asked her who it was. "Ohh it was Kevin, we had to talk about a
surprise." Chloe said hanging the phone back up. The girls finished packing and sat and watched old sappy movies. They were surprised at how quickly time was going by. At 1:30am they turned
out the lights and went to sleep.
