Be Here Now is Oasis's new album. It's a very good album and I like it a lot. It has many very good songs and I highly recommend buying it.
Almost every song in the CD is over 5 minutes long. This is a sort of a new style for Oasis. It's less noisy, but it's still fine, quality rock.
The following is a rundown of the album: My thoughts on the songs, information, and more. Mail me any questions, comments, additions, etc. if you have any. Thanx,
Amos
My Thoughts on Each Song
D'You Know What I Mean? (7:42) - This first single from Be Here Now is a very long song, really good. It's similar to Wonderwall music-wise and built like Champagne Supernova, with a long opening and a long ending.
My Big Mouth (5:02) - Very noisy song, with a couple of nice solos. Overall, not a bad song, pretty nice, but I don't really like it. For those who like heavier rock.
Magic Pie (7:19) - Noel sings this one. It starts off with a quiet, acoustic intro, and then everyone join in at the 2nd verse. I like this song a lot, it's really good, especially the bridge. Weird ending.
Stand By Me (5:56) - Another truely wonderful song, with nice guitars. The verse reminds me a little of Married With Children from Definitely Maybe. Very good chorus, nice verse and bridge. One of the album's bests.
I Hope, I Think, I Know (4:22) - This one's also pretty noisy, full of guitar distortion. It's a nice song, good tempo, gets you going. I like it, overall it's a good song.
The Girl In The Dirty Shirt (5:47) - This is a very good song written about Noel's wife Meg. My favorite part is the bridge, which includes Noel's wonderful backing vocals. The chorus includes a slide guitar that gives it style, and the verse is also not bad. Great song!
Fade In-Out (6:52) - Movie star Johnny Depp plays slide guitar in this one. I don't like this song a lot, it's a little weird. Near the end, it gets louder with a distortioned solo. One of the album's less great songs, but it's not bad.
Don't Go Away (4:48) - Awesome song, one of the best in Be Here Now. The slow electric guitar gives this song a special touch, and the chorus is amazing. It ends with a a quiet acoustic guitar part. By the way, it was written about Noel's mother when he thought she had cancer. Another hit song!
Be Here Now (5:13) - This one's okay, not too noisy, catchy music. Good chorus, nice guitars in the background. Not many lyrics, but this is still a good song.
All Around The World (9:19) - The longest song in Oasis history. Nice acoustic opening, which leads to a fine, well-made Oasis song. Everything is really good, in it: The verse, bridge, and chorus are really good. In the middle of the song, some symphony members join in and the song turns into a wonderful progression of quality music with blasting trumpets and guitars. My favorite song in Be Here Now.
It's Getting Better (Man!!) (6:59) - This song is pretty noisy. It's contagious tune is really nice, but I don't really like this song. I think the verse is better than the chorus. It includes a good solo and nice percussion. Overall: Not bat at all.
All Around The World (Reprise) (2:08) - A 36-member symphony and Oasis are this wonderful combination and they made this wonderful piece of music. At the end, footsteps are heard and a door is closed shut. Take your guess on what that means.
The CD and the Cover
Sleeve - Brian Cannon, Matthew Sonkey, Martia Catherall and Michael Spencer are responsible for the great sleeve. It has some meaningful and weird things.
Booklet - The collages were made by the Oasis photographer Jill Fumanovsky, and the colored pictures were made by the team mentioned above. Jill is known to be a great photographer. The design of the booklet is really good and the lyrics are included. In the booklet there's information on how to join a newsletter called "the Official Oasis Information Network". There are a lot of good pictures in the booklet. A very good job!
Side Cover - On a white background it says "BE HERE NOW" in capital letters in the center. On the very left is a small Oasis black and white logo, and on the very right is the number "488187 2".
