(What's the Story) Morning Glory? is Oasis's second album. It's a great album, with wonderful songs, and should be in every fan's collection.
The style in the album is calmer than Definitely Maybe, with songs like Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger, but Oasis still know how to rock, with songs like Hello and Hey Now!.
The following is a rundown of the album: My thoughts on the songs, information, and more. Mail me any questions, comments, additions, etc. if you have any. Thanx,
Amos
My Thoughts on Each Song
Hello (3:21) - This is a very loud and rocking song, with bursting guitars and heavy drums. The verse is very simple, with two chords only, and then a small bridge leads to a great chorus that ends with "Hello, Hello, Hello...".
Roll With It (3:59) - This single is also a pretty loud song, with good guitars. Starts off with a special intro, then a nice verse that tells you to roll with it. Simple chorus. Between the 2nd chorus and the 3rd verse, there's a good musical part.
Wonderwall (4:18) - The big hit. We all know this one. Starts off acoustic, with the drums joining in on the 2nd verse. Wonderful song, great vocals by Liam, musically great, just perfect.
Don't Look Back In Anger (4:48) - Another huge hit. A piano intro off of John Lennon's "Imagine" leads to a song with great lead guitar parts by Noel. The verse and chorus chords are the same, with a long bridge in between. Great song.
Hey Now (5:41) - Like Noel once said, this is the song no one talks about. It's pretty long, 5 minutes and 41 seconds, and it's pretty good. It's very loud. The main riff is 2 chords, that repeats a few times, and the then the first chord is held on, and then a fourth chord kicks in, surprisingly.
(5:47) - In the album, this instrumental part has no name, but it's actually an extract from the b-side "The Swamp Song", to come out later. I like it, it's a great instrumental.
Some Might Say (5:29) - Good lyrics, great song. Nice intro, that leads to a great verse. The line "Some Might Say" is in the short bridge, that leads to a fast paced, 4 chord chorus.
Cast No Shadow (4:51) - My favorite. What a song! Great acoustic opening, and then the lead guitar kicks in. Simple, 2 chord verse, and then a wonderful, long bridge. The bridge ends with "As he faced the sun he cast no shadow", and then the chorus: A little longer than the bridge, but just as good. It, too ends with the above line. Great backing vocals by Noel, and great singing by Liam.
She's Electric (3:40) - This song's verse is so similar to Married with Children! Anyway, it's a good, fast song, although not noisy at all. Good, repeating verse, long bridge I like very much, and a pretty short chorus. Wonderful song.
Morning Glory (5:08) - The title of the album is a very noisy song. It starts off with helicopters in the background and an annoying, repeating tune. Overall, a good song, with a repeating chorus, and nice verse. Not bad.
(0:39) - The continuation of the extract from "The Swamp Song", also seen on track 6. It's ending leads to Champagne Supernova.
Champagne Supernova (7:27) - A wonderful masterpiece, wonderful guitars. Perfect song, starts off with waves, very quietly, and then in a bridge it gets really loud, but maintains it's genius. Awesome!
The CD and the Cover
Sleeve - Weird... I don't know its meaning, but two people are passing by each other. The sleeve is designed and directed by Brian Cannon, assisted by Matthew Sankey, photographed by Michael Spencer Jones, and starring Sean Rowley. As the... people? I dunno...
Booklet - I don't like the booklet because it doesn't have many pictures. Every picture is as big as a page, and the rest, is lyrics. The photography isn't very good either.
Side Cover - On a black background it says in white fonts "(WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY ?" in capital letters in the center. On the very left is a small Oasis black and white logo, and on the very right is the number "481020 2".
