A sell-out crowd has crammed into the GM Place in Vancouver for Last Man Standing, as the fireworks display kick off the big show. The cheers are quickly switched to boos as Dazzling David Sklar makes his way to the squared circle, and his injured tag team partner, Jumpin' Joey Cohen, at his side. Grab a sandwitch and a soft drink, because you'll be here for a while.
Match #1 (Triple Threat Match for Featherweight Title shot): "Mr. Merchandise" Steve Gentry vs El Infierno vs Dazzling David Sklar w/Jumpin' Joey Cohen.
Mr. Merchandise follows, and as usual, he tries to sell a couple Steve Gentry T-shirts to the fans. The crowd erupts when former featherweight champion El Infierno heads to the ring. He exchanges high-fives on the way, and the ref calls for the opening bell. Sklar and Gentry go right after the Brazilian, knowing he has the most experience of the three. Infierno, however, steers clear of their attack, and takes both men out with a couple of dropkicks. The crowd cheers, and he tries to keep the momentum going. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long, as the two-on-one factor starts to kick in. With Joey Cohen, crutches and all, on the outside, it is more like three-on-one. Sklar and Gentry connect with a double clothesline, and take turns working on the Blaze from Brazil. Sklar with a vertical suplex, and Gentry connects with an elbow. Merchandise covers. One... two... Sklar breaks it up. The two of them argue about the pin, and Infierno rolls up David Sklar! One... two... THR--! Sklar kicks out, and once again, they go back to work on El Infierno. Gentry tosses Infierno to the outside, and with Sklar, distracts the ref, allowing Joey Cohen, on the oustide, to kick away at the fallen fan favourite. After a lengthly diversion, Sklar and Gentry join El Infierno on the outside. They charge at him from opposite sides, but Infierno ducks and the two collide to a huge crowd pop! El Infierno gets back in the ring, and nails a suicide dive onto Gentry and Sklar on the outside. The crowd erupts, and Infierno rolls Mr. Merchandise into the ring, leaving Sklar to be helped by Cohen as they appear to be plotting a plan. Infierno goes to the top for the Crimson Tide 450. He leaps, and nails it! One... two... Thr--! No! Sklar interrupts the count. Sklar pulls the referee into a corner, as Joey Cohen climbs the the ring apron... despite the "injury" to his leg. He climbs into the ring, and takes a swing at El Infierno with the crutch. Infierno ducks, and it nails Mr. Merchandise! El infierno attacks Joey Cohen, and grabs him by the shirt, with the crowd on their feet... Sklar turns around and sees the fallen Steve Gentry. A cover, One... two... THREE! Dazzling David Sklar wins! A frustrated El Infierno pleads his case to the ref, as the New Jerseys run off with Sklar's future featherweight title shot!
There will NOT be an edition of Monday Madness on the evening following the Last Man Standing pay per view. The next show will take place on January 25, 1999, instead of January 18.
Match #2 (Four-Way-Dance Tag Team Title Match): Sugar Daddy and "The Lion" A.J. Jarczyn (champions) vs Armed and Dangerous (challengers) w/Arthur Reed vs "Pretty Boy" Cory Chadwick and Ben Xeric (challengers) vs Hunk of Dump and Hey Stack (challengers) w/Ginsberg Wong
The first duo to head to the ring, is Armed and Dangerous, as a fireworks show accompanies them to ringside. Next, the team from the Federation joins Armed and Dangerous in the ring. Hey Stack and Hunk of Dump ignite the crowd, as they drive down the aisle in the White Jeep. Finally, the team of Sugar Daddy and A.J. Jarczyn, who can lose the titles without even being pinned, get a great ovation on their way to the ring. The first four men in the ring are Silverdog, Cory Chadwick, Hey Stack and Sugar Daddy. Pretty Boy pursuades Silverdog and Hey Stack to triple team the champ, but instead it's a triple team attack on the Blond Bomber. The three men knock Chadwick around the ring, taking turns giving him right hands. When Chadwick hits the mat, all three men jump for the cover. But Hey Stack is the last one on the pile on, and he squashes everyone underneath him. As he pries each man off the heap of bodies, Silverdog and Sugar Daddy begin to pound away on each other in the corner. Hey Stack whips Pretty Boy to the ropes, but Chadwick hangs on and quickly tags in Ben Xeric. Chadwick stands on the turnbuckle and yells to the crowd, "I ain't no lackey!" This triggers a "lackey" chant from the fans in the arena. Meanwhile, Xeric is trying to take the big man down, and finally does so when Silverdog and Sugar Daddy give him a hand. Silverdog tags in B.B. Gunn, who leaps from the top rope with an axehandle, but he is caught in mid-flight, as "The Lion" A.J. Jarczyn enters the ring after a legal tag. The Lion shakes Gunn like a rag doll, but Xeric takes his legs out from under him. Gunn lands on Jarczyn and the ref counts. The count is broken up by Xeric, who tosses Gunn into the near corner and stomps him to the mat. Hey Stack pulls the Lion to his feet and headbutts him, before dropping a leg over his throat. One, two, but A.J. kicks free. Sugar Daddy reaches for a tag, but Stack just drags A.J. to his corner for some double team action. Xeric has started a 10 count on Gunn in the corner, but the Armed and Dangerous member lifts Xeric and drops him to the mat with a spinebuster. Both men are trying to make tags, Gunn the closer of the two. This causes Pretty Boy to level Silverdog, who had been reaching out for a tag. He quickly returns to his corner where Xeric tags him in. Chadwick hops over the top rope, eager to fight with someone. He tries his luck with the Zoo Crew, who are still double teaming The Lion. Hey Stack and Hunk of Dump turn their attention to the Fed member and double clothesline him to a loud ovation. Xeric doesn't like what's happening and he sparks an all-out brawl between the Zoo Crew team and the Fed team. The four men clobber each other silly and Xeric clutches Hunk of Dump in the Zener Diode. This is quickly broken up by Hey Stack, who is also fighting off the presence of Pretty Boy on his back. This gives Jarczyn enough time to tag in Sugar Daddy, who begins an attack on B.B. Gunn. He whips Gunn to the ropes and tries to deliver his Done Deal swinging neckbreaker, but it's countered by a DDT at the hands of B.B. Gunn. Silverdog, meanwhile, climbs to the top rope and lands his Silverslam leg drop. He goes for a pin, but the ref says their was no tag and that Silverdog is not the legal man. The Zoo Crew and Fed tumble to the outside and continue the brawl there. With Armed and Dangerous still arguing with the ref, Sugar Daddy nails the Done Deal on B.B. Gunn and covers, while The Lion keeps Silverdog tied up. One... two... THREE! Sugar Daddy and "The Lion" A.J. Jarczyn retain the Tag Team titles against all odds! The Zoo Crew and Fed continues to brawl, until officials hit the scene. The champs, however, celebrate in the ring.
Match #3 (Rope Match): Amazin' Mazin vs Dangerous David Bohnen
As the fans get set for the competitors' entrances, the officials set up the rope hanging from the rafters over the center of the ring for the no-DQ Rope Match. Dangerous Dave makes an unwelcomed entrance into the arena, as the fans hound him at first sight. The crowd erupts, however, when Amazin Mazin sprints to the ring, going straight into the attack of Bohnen. He whips the insane one around the squared circle, knocking him senseless with clotheslines and shoulder tackles. Mazin grabs ahold of Bohnen, and wraps the rope around his throat, the crowd enjoying every minute. It is apparent that Mazin doesn't just want to win, but to really hurt his former best friend. Mazin slams Bohnen hard to the canvas, and stomps him down. He pulls the Dangerous One to the near corner, and proceeds to smash his opponent's legs into the steel ringpost. Bohnen, screaming in pain, wiggles free and turns the tables with rake to Mazin's eyes. Mazin tries for a clothesline, but Bohnen counters by ducking and nailing a backdrop suplex. After choking Mazin with his boot, Bohnen drags his weary opponent to the center of the ring, and starts to loop the rope around his feet. Mazin, sensing danger, kicks wildly, causing Bohnen to lose his grip. Mazin is up in a flash, and he clotheslines Bohnen to the outside floor, himself going for the ride as well. The two rivals hit the concrete hard, and Bohnen is the first one up. He is quick to keep an attack going, and drives Mazin's back into the corner of the ring stairs. Dangerous Dave snoops around under the ring for some weapons, but when he pops out, Mazin is gone. Bohnen circles the ring, and Mazin suprises him with thunderous right hand. Bohnen stumbles, dropping the wrench he had in his grasp, and before he can get it back, Mazin clocks him with one of his own! The crowd erupts, as Mazin continues the onslaught. After a lengthy beating, Mazin decides to end it. He rolls Bohnen back into the ring, and begins to wrap the rope around his opponent's legs. Bohnen, with little energy, puts up almost no fight, and Mazin begins to pull him to the rafters. This time, however, Bohnen surprises Mazin, and pulls out a pair of brass knuckles, delivering a shot to Mazin that drops him, and he releases Bohnen to the mat. Bohnen immediately slaps on the Insane Asylum armbar on the barely-conscious Mazin, and now ties Mazin to the rope. Once again, Mazin fights free and locks on the Full Nelson Faceslam. Bohnen crashes face first into the mat, and Mazin wastes no time in pulling him up. Suddenly, two men, one about 6'7", the other approximately 6'0", storm to the ring, and pound Mazin to the mat. Dangerous David Bohnen, and the two strangers continue to lay a beating on Mazin, and together, wrap him up and pull him to the rafters above. The crowd is in an uproar, and the three partners in crime laugh at Mazin above as the ref calls for the bell, Bohnen the victor.
Just a reminder... The next edition of Monday Madness will be on January 25, 1999.
Match #4 (Featherweight Title Match): Sexxy Kenny Kerman (champion) vs Daredevil (challenger)
Daredevil is announced first, and the fans rise to their feet. Maybe, just maybe he will be their saviour and finally knock off the pesky Featherweight champ. Sexxy Kenny is then announced, and as usual, receives a shower of soft drinks on his way to ringside. Kenny flexes for the fans, who don't appreciate the act much at all. The two featherweights lock up, Kenny grabbing the first upper hand. He brings Daredevil to the mat with a hip toss, and holds the rookie in down with an armbar. Kenny grins for the fans, and calls out, "This is way too easy! Go back to training camp, Evil Knieval!" Daredevil takes exception, and rolls out of the hold, clobbering the champ with a roundhouse kick. Kenny falls to the mat and touches his kisser in pain. He charges at Daredevil. who flips the champ over the top rope to the outside. Kenny falls to the floor, and Dardevil goes right to the top turnbuckle. Hedives at Kerman with a corkscrew, but Kenny dodges out of the way, and Daredevil lands awkwardly on the safety rail. Kenny whips his opponent into the steps, and rolls him back into the ring. The Featherweight champion maintains control from that point. Using his experience, Kenny continues to outmanouver Daredevil on every opportunity. He sends the fan favourite to the corner, and follows with a shoulder to the challenger's gut. Kenny climbs up the second buckle and begins to lay the ten count of fists onto Daredevil's head. However, he doesn't get past five, as Daredevil pulls away and connects with an inverted atomic drop. Kenny grabs his crotch in pain, and Daredevil takes him down with a clothesline from the second rope. A cover! One... two... Kenny kicks free! Daredevil sends Kerman to the ropes, and sets up for a back body drop. Kenny telegraphs the move, though, and catches the rookie in a vulnerable position, nailing a piledriver. He doesn't cover, though, and instead climbs the buckle to taunt the fans. Now he covers, but only gets a two count. Kenny gives the ref a mouthful for a slow count, but continues to focus on the challenger. He once again whips Daredevil to the corner, but the challenger gets a boot up when Kenny charges, and follows with a bulldog. A cover. One, two, thr--- NO! Kenny gets a leg on the ropes! Daredevil with a scoop and a slam and he heads to the top rope. Kerman slowly gets to his feet, before Daredevil does a back flip body press into a pin. One, two, but Kerman reverses the pin. One, two, THR-- Daredevil kicks out! The crowd is on edge, as this grueling match up continues. Daredevil whips Kenny to the ropes, but Kerman slides through his legs on the return. He pops up behind the rookie, and slaps on the Crossface Sexxywing! Daredevil is trying to pry Kerman off, but can't. He struggles not to give up, but the end looks to be near. Just as the ref is about to call for the bell, Daredevil backs up into the corner, ramming Kenny into the turnbuckle. But Kenny doesn't let go. Again, Daredevil backs up, and the champ finally releases the hold. Daredevil, still gasping for air, levels Kerman with a standing sidekick. With Kerman on the mat, Daredevil climbs to the top rope once more. He leaps and lands his Devil's Drop top rope knee drop! A cover. The ref counts, with the fans counting with him. One... two... THREE!!! We have a NEW Featherweight Champion! Finally, Sexxy Kenny is dethroned! The crowd is going nuts, like never before! Kenny slides out of the ring, almost in tears. Daredevil celebrates with the fans for a little while before being met at the ramp by fellow featherweights El Infierno, Red, the Blue Mimi and Seth Sterling, who congratulate him on his victory.
When the long celebration ends, "The Essence" Shawn Mecklinger struts to the ring. Oh, no!
