Chad Stuart - guitar/keyboards/vocals (born December 10th 1943, Durham) Jeremy Clyde - guitar/vocals (born March 22nd 1944, Buckinghamshire)
Ploughing a similar furrow to Peter & Gorgon, but without access to the songs of Lennon & McCartney, Chad & Jeremy never had a hit in their home country, but their soft-rock records kept them on the US charts from 1964 to 1966. Well educated sons of affluent families (their publicists would later gleefully prsue the "educated" angle), they met while studying at the Central School of Drama in London, where they began singing folk-based songs. The duo relied almost entirely on revival versions of old hits and covering songs from popular shows for their material. They moved to America in '64, appeared regularly on TV and enjoyed a series of hits including "Yesterday's Gone", "A Summer Song" and "Distant Shores". The duo split up in '68, Stuart turned to full-time songwriting and record production while Clyde resumed his acting career.
