In June '62, the Flannery brothers put together a hand-picked group of backing musicians and named them The All Stars. They were joined in August by Pete Best following his dismissal from The Beatles. They rapidly gained a large following in their native city, Liverpool, in fact they would finish as runners-up to The Beatles in the "Merseybeat" newspaper's end of year poll. Having been signed by Decca and released a pair of singles, the group split from Curtis twelve months after his previous band had done the same thing. A case of lightning striking twice!

Curtis put a new line-up of the All Stars together in the summer of '63. This group, George Peckham (who would eventually join The Fourmost), Paul Pilnick, Mushy Cooper and Don Alcyd, went over to Germany and began to build up a good fan-base.

From this point on, the line-up of the All Stars changed with bewildering regularity. The band listed and pictured above lasted for nine months during 1964.

Despite all of the problems with personnel, Curtis became a major star in Germany while making no impression at home outside his native Liverpool.

His full-time career was ended in 1967 after he was badly hurt in a car accident. He sold off his gear and returned to Liverpool.

Today, in addition to running his own successful business, Lee Curtis continues to make occasional tours of Germany where he remains popular.
