Terry Nolder - vocals Chris Lovegrove - lead guitar Phil Heatley - guitar Barry Allchin - bass guitar Brian Cocoran - drums
The band was formed in Ealing, London as an instrumental group called The Renegades. With the addition of Nolder they changed their name, first to Gerry Hart & The Hartbeats and in 1964, to The Eyes. One of the "Mod" groups who emerged in the wake of The Who and The Small Faces, they would appear on stage using sound-effect tapes (crashes, bells etc.), large amounts of feedback and wearing custom-tailored Pop Art T-shirts portraying their faces printed within a huge eye. Their records received a fair amount of airplay but never sold in sufficient numbers to make the charts. They split-up in 1967 after recording an album of Rolling Stones covers as "The Pupils".
