Hailing from Norwich, the News began their career in the late 50s as The Continentals. The line up changed considerably over the years but by the early 60s they were backing Milton Ingram, a superb coloured American vocalist from the nearby USAF base of Sculthorpe, Generally regarded as the best group in the Norwich area, at different times their membership included Mike Patto, who went on to front such bands as the Bo Street Runners Timebox, Patto etc. and Pete Miller ( also known as Big Boy Pete ) who had played lead guitar for Peter Jay and the Jaywalkers. in 1966 they landed a recording contract with Decca and changed their name to The News, a name that was perhaps more in keeping with the mood of the times. The News cut two singles for Decca, the second of which was written by Chris Andrews and featured in the popular BBC TV series "Adam Adamant". By the late 60s they have undergone a further name-change, to Triffany, and gone out to Thailand to play U.S bases there.
