If ever a group suffered from too many Chiefs and not enough Indians...
Steampacket were a kind of travelling blues revue, put together by Long John Baldry after he disbanded The Hoochie Coochie Men. They shone briefly, but brightly, from late '65 until a dissatisfied Stewart departed in 1966 to join Shotgun Express and the rest of the group fell apart. Auger and Driscoll formed the Brian Auger Trinity, Baldry joined Bluesology, Waller joined the Jeff Beck Group along with Stewart and Briggs was recruited by the New Animals.
Owing to contractual reasons Steampacket never made any official recordings although a demo tape was made with an eye on breaking the group into the US college circuit. This demo would re-surface as an LP during the 1970's.
