The Gaitors

John Hesterman, Bass & Vocals * Ron Brewer, Guitar & Vocals
Mark Wirtz, Drums * Sheldon Skinkle, Guitar & Vocals

When Tom Whalen and Dave (Bud) Lucas left the band, Sheldon Skinkle (guitar & vocals) joined, and we officially became The Gaitors, though on ocassion still appeared as The Epics. There was a very brief period during which this band included all six members of BOTH bands. The six-piece lineup recorded Gloria and All Of The Time at the Bruce's World of Sound demo studio as The Epics. Only 5 acetates were cut of this session. After Tom and Bud's departure, scaling down to two guitars instead of four improved the sound of the band considerably. Mark was playing a really funky set of Slingerland drums he was able to borrow from the West High School marching band and Sheldon impressed us all by purchasing a Sears Silvertone Twin-Twelve guitar amplifier and a great Silvertone hollow body electric guitar. The rest of us were still using horrible Japanese guitars and even worse home-made amplifiers. We continued to record with sometimes interesting results. The Gaitors (shown in black & white below at the Salt River Project Pera Club at a July 4th Party) were fairly short lived.
