Emily Sailers |
The story of the Indigo Girls begins back when 6th grader, Emily Sailers moved to Decatur, Georgia. There she met Amy Ray who was to become her life long friend. Even though Amy was in the year below Emily they soon began jamming together in Amy's Basement. Together they formed "The B-Band" and performed in local pubs.
After they both went away to university they return to Georgia and began performing together again. Ray chose the word "Indigo" out of the dictionary because she thought it sounded "COOL"
