Davey is one of the most fluid and electrifying guitars I've ever heard.
As with all my other influences, his sense of melody is what comes first
in his playing. There isn't one solo of his that doesn't fit in perfectly
with the song. He and Adrian Smith are what made Iron Maiden great.
Easily the best guitar duo of all time, no other team will ever match their
magic. Each having a style that was differet from the other's, yet
totally complimented the other's. Dave is more of the guy who just
lets loose and wails on his axe. He's said that when recording solos,
he'll have a beginning and ending point, and that he'll just jam in between.
Only a masterful feel for the instrument could allow him to do this so
well. Dave likes to use alot of trills and hammer-ons/pull-offs in
his playing, which helps to create the fluid style I mentioned above.
His tone is also amazing. One look and listen to him on Maiden's
first live album "Live After Death" (the greatest live album of all time)
will show all of his amazing abilities. Anyone who really appreciates
the guitar, should admire Dave.
