Alton Ellis
(b. Alton Neamiah Ellis, 1944, Kingston) Started
1959 together with Eddie Perkins
in the duo Alton & Eddie. The had a hit with their 1st
single Muriel for Coxsone, 3 weeks later they recorded My Heaven. Shortly after, Eddie
Perkins left for the States. Recorded mostly solo, but also
together with his sister Hortense
Ellis. He formed a trio to back him called The Flames,
originally his brother Leslie Ellis, David "Baby G"
Gordon and a guy called Ronnie, later on people like Lloyd Charmers and Winston Jarrett. Alton Ellis moved
to England in 1973
