| The "I'm an Anya" thing--yes, I'm an Anya fan, and this is from a bunch of cliques that also include Jenny, Cordelia, Willow and even Buffy. Anya is everybody's favourite ex-demon, particularly Xander's. She made her first appearance in the episode "The Wish" as the Anyanka, the Protector of Women Scorned, a 1120 year old demon with a yen for hurting men. She granted Cordelia, scorned by Xander and her friends, the wish of Buffy never arriving in Sunnydale. Unfortunately for Anya, Buffy and the Scoobies foiled her plans and her boss-man demon took her powers away. As a plot device to keep this popular character in the show, Anya was stuck in Sunnydale High, and she started having all these...feelings. She fell in love with Xander. At first Xander was a little wary--naturally--but by the 4th season he'd warmed to her a little. Now they're engaged, and Anya's blunt, sex-obsessed nature certainly spices up the show. Anya has some great one-liners and her feelings for Xander are clear--crystal clear, in most cases. Now she runs the magic shop, and some of her tension is taken out on the customers. She's even learning people skills! |
