| Riley Finn--rebound guy or once-in-a-lifetime guy? He's big, strong, handsome, demon hunter, pretty much everything you'd expect in a boyfriend of Buffy's. Lucky girl, isn't she. Riley and Buffy got off to a shaky start, what with her giving him concussion, then him choking when he tried to ask her out, and then having to hide their nightly demon-slayage from each other. They had already had problems with their relationship, as Riley slept with Faith when she was in Buffy's body, in that infamous body-switch episode. But he seemed pretty nice and well-meaning, sort of the sweet college guy. Riley was a country boy from Iowa, which my American friend assures me accounts for his strange accent and use of words such as "peculiar," but as Buffy once said, "Have you seen his arms? Those are good arms too have." I agree....yum. However, he has one minor drawback--he liked to pay female vamps to suck blood from him. It made him feel like they needed him, something he didn't get from Buffy. So he went off to join the Initiative again, and Buffy was left feeling sorry she'd let him go. I'm not surprised. He's so yummy! Spike decided to reveal Riley's dark secret to Buffy in the end--he never did like Riley much anyway. And Riley always knew that Buffy didn't really love him. I feel sorry for the guy. He loved Buffy, and Buffy just sort of liked him. True, he had no character, but still, poor guy. |
