Mark Ritts as "Lester"
Here are some links on the disgustingly delightful Lester and the incredibly talented Mark Ritts.
LESTER FUN FACT: So, what's the deal with the tattoos? Well, according to a post 4/10/96 on alt.tv.beakmans-world by Mark Ritts himself - "The tattoos are fab fakes that migrate from arm to arm. Usually, one is the laughing and crying faces of drama, and the other is a rose with the inscription 'Mom & Dad'."

Biography of Mark Ritts as published on the old web site by Sony. Pretty much the same information as on the new site, just without the cool new pictures.
Lester wasn't always a man in a rat suit. He started off as a hand in a rat suit! Check out the 411 and pictures at The Puppet Studio

Mark was an integral player in a science program that aired on PBS. From an email he sent, here are the details:
"The documentary will air in most markets on November 30(1999), probably at around 8 in the evening. It is the fourth in a series of hours that will run every Tuesday during November on most PBS stations. Individual PBS affiliates are independent, so they can run shows any time they like. But most will heed the recommendation of the central office and go with Tuesday nights. Watch for the series: Intimate Strangers: Unseen Life on Earth. It will be heavily promoted.
Okay, if you have been visiting this page regularly, you might have read about this mystery project Mark Ritts worked on. While searching the internet, I had found a really obscure reference on a past project. Well, according to an email from Len Epand himself, he, Jay Dubin and Mark Ritts collaborated together with the idea of developing a show based upon the toy line "Gurglin' Gutz" (a line based upon the Goosebumps books). It was never picked up, so you (and I!) can stop scouring the TV Guide, but kinda cool to hear about. Thank you Len Epand for writing and clarifying what this was!
Well, Lester might have been changed from a puppet to a man in a rat suit, but you can still see Mark Ritts' puppetry skills at work. Catch his other Emmy winning show. Mark Ritts as Kino in - Storytime on PBS.
