Jax and Venus Chat - Help for AOL Users

AOL keyword links can only be used with AOL Browser

Since I'd love for everyone to be able to join the chats, I am hoping this will help some AOL users who are having problems. I've been searching around for help on AOL for using IRC or Java, and This is what I've found. I look forward to chatting with you once V. is back on the show! P.S. I hope this isn't information overload. It's probably best to not try and set this all up 15 min. before a scheduled chat, but once you have it working, you'll never have to do it again.

I'm sorry that I haven't found more to help mac users. You can still go to my mac software link, or there is info about Java for the Mac, but I'll keep looking.

TalkCity's Help for AOL Users Try this first

I have found a few either general irc sites for the mac, or specific software sites.

http://www.aloha.net/~sputnik/irclehelp.html (Info on setting up ircle)

Mac Internet Software

I've copied and have most of the pages here, but here are some keywords you can try in America Online, to try and find further information

Keyword: Winsock - Help on running Internet Applications with America Online Software

Keyword: Java

Keyword: Upgrade - to get the newest version of the AOL software.

Keyword: AOLLINK

This is a note from an AOL page: You may also want to take our free IRC class. For more info, stop by keyword OTN, pick LIVE CLASSES then read the description/schedule for the IRC class.

You can also click on the internet icon on the welcome page, then internet extra's and either internet software or internet help for informaiton. As I said, though, that I've gathered all this info together and have it here.

First, the simplest way you are going to be able to use the chat is through the Java web page. Here is a link with Info on using Java with America Online. It really should work if you have the latest version of AOL for Windows 95 (the 32 bit version) or for Macintosh. Keyword upgrade If you don't want to mess with lots of instructions, this is the way to go at least at first, unless you just can't get it to work. Of course, personally, I prefer the other Chat programs, so you may too.

If you are going to try and use another irc chat program,Here are some sites with help for AOL.

Good Site A page that tells you how to set up Mirc for AOL - if you have Windows or Windows 95

Good Site: Internet Application Help for AOL

Here are 2 guides to using them with IRC. The directions may not seem very simple, but if you print them out and go through them step by step, I think you'll do OK. I'll be glad to help you any way I can. I have signed up for the internet messenger service (username Mbergen2) so you can page me if you have problems.

This is the main link to their site - http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/saint/
or I've copied the pages to my site also.
