Borrowed from AOL - How to use Java from AOL. I think you can also use the Keyword Java to get this.
What do I need to run Java Applets? Because Java applets appear on the World Wide Web, you'll need a web browser. But, beyond that, Java applets need a 32-bit enviornment to run. What does this mean? It means that you need to be running Windows 95 or Windows NT with a 32-bit browser and winsock.dll in order to see Java applets. Our Macintosh users will need MacOS version 7.0 or System 6.0 with a 32-bit extension.
Can I see Java applets from AOL? Yes. So long as you're running AOL 3.0 for Windows 95 or AOL 3.0 for the Mac. The built in browser will allow you to run Java applications. You also have the option of running another 32-bit browser of choice "on top of" AOL. (Note: Members using the 16-bit version of AOL 3.0 and our built in browser will not experience Java Applets. However, Microsoft's new 16-bit Internet Explorer V3.01 does advertise some access to Java and Javascript and it can be run on top of 16-bit AOL).
Here is another Post I found
Java needs a 32-bit enviornment to run. This means that you need to be running Windows 95 or Windows NT with a 32-bit browser and winsock.dll in order to see Java applets. There are 2 versions of AOL 3.0...only the 32-bit version has full Java capabilities. To see which version you have, click HELP (at the top of the screen) and click "About AOL" **AOL 3.0 For Windows------> 16-bit program (runs with 16-bit MSIE 3.02 browser) **AOL 3.0 For Windows 95--> 32-bit program (with 32-bit MSIE 3.02 as its integrated browser) If you indeed have the 32-bit program, you can do the following... *click MEMBERS (at the top of the screen) *click PREFERENCES *click WWW icon *click ADVANCED tab-->select "Enable Java JIT Compiler" *now, click the SECURITY tab-->select "Enable Java Program" *click APPLY *click OK
To test to see if you are JAVA enabled, go to http://www.sun.com - click "JAVA Version" at top of page...you will get a message is your browser doesn't support JAVA. You can also check it at: ../Schwarz2/index.htm ---then click on the blue hyperlink that says: "Click Here To See If Your Browser Supports Java"
