Living in Lake County Pages Help

The design philosophy of this Web site is to keep it simple... and fast. To be sure, I could have used huge images and graphics with push buttons. But I believe you come here seeking information, not glitz. Not all users have ISDN or T1 lines, and I have attempted to strike a balance between an attractive design and a quick, responsive, informative Web site. The only page that should stretch your patience is the Home Page. If you want to start at a less graphics intensive page bookmark the Site Map or the Table of Contents instead.

These pages use tables to layout the pages and appear best when browsed with any HTML 3.2-compatible browser at a screen size of 640x480 with 256-colors or better. (Netscape is an example.) HTML 3.2 includes improved formatting of text and graphics. We also use some custom Netscape extensions that may not be used by other browsers. If you use older browsers, type, graphics and the general layout may also appear slightly different than intended though fully readable. Making your browser's window as wide as possible may also improve the appearance.

Spry's AIR Mosaic (as used by Compuserve and other providers) and some older browsers may have a problem with 256-color backgrounds. If you have difficulty reading the pages with color backgrounds try setting your browser to "use your own colors" and set the background color to white or grey. AIR Mosaic may also have problems with it's [Back] button, if it does just use the [History] pull-down to navigate to the correct page.

This site is hosted by GeoCities and they supply the hosting for free. In order to keep this site free GeoCities has Advertising Banners and puts a WaterMark on the lower right of each page. Sometimes the page will not load completely because of the GeoCities code - please press the [Reload] or [Refresh] button on your browser if you have problems. The Banner Ads, WaterMark and loading problems are not under my control so please contact GeoCites if you keep having problems.

This site has several navigation devices. There is a "Navigation Bar" at the top and bottom of each page. You'll also see a orange "Question Mark" icon, that will return you to this help page, and a blue "List" icon that will take you to the Table of Contents at the top of each page. The "Living in Lake County" logo at the top of each page is an "Image Map", if you click on the logo it will take you to the Home Page. The arrows will take you to the "Previous" and "Next" pages at the current level or "Up" to the next higher level. If your browser supports it, you will also see navigation "Buttons" on your browsers button bar.
