I'm very active in the Masonic fraternity. I am a 32nd
degree Mason and a member of the Scotish Rite in the Valley of Honolulu, a
member of the Aloha Shrine and am the current Jr. Past
Master of the King Kalakaua Daylight Lodge in Honolulu. I have recently finished my term as Master and now plan to be active in degree work and coaching. Our
Lodge helps our namesake school, the
King Kalakaua Intermediate school in Honolulu by presenting them
with award certificates for academic achievement. I am pleased
to report that we give out approximately 1000 certificates each
year. As Past Master of the Lodge, I help my brethren learn more about
Masonry and we also help the
SHRINERS HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN where children receive
medical treatment at no cost. If you know a child with a crippling
disease who needs medical help, e-mail for information on
SHRINER'S MEDICAL TREATMENT where
the child is cured and the families are never charged.

Masonry in Hawaii dates back to the
time when the Sandwich
Islands were first discovered by Captain Cooke and we have the honored
distinction of being the Lodges of those Kings who gave up the scepter
for the trowel to serve for a season as Masters of the Lodge. Hawaiian
Masonry dates back over 160 years. We were under the grand Lodge of
California all that time until 1989. At that time we were organized under
the Grand Lodge of Hawaii and have remained so since. There are twelve
Lodges in Hawaii, eight being on the island of Oahu. There are many other
concordant bodies present here.
I'm pleased to report that my son Jon, who was made a mason
here and is active in the Potentate's band, has returned to the
Mainland and he has found a very good job there. It sure makes me
jealous when my kid makes more starting out on job than I'll ever
make at my highest rate. Oh well. Jon has a girl friend to go along
with his new job. It was great to have him here for the several months
we lived together. It's really fun when your kids are old enough to
go out honky tonkin' and girl chasin' with you. He's a tall handsom
lad, just like a magnet. I love it. We had a great time hangin' out
together.
If you know a Mason, ask him about Masonry. If you don't know one
and want to know more about it, e-mail me. I'll be happy to help you.
