~ Jason Scott Lee

Who is this guy???...you may be asking. Jason Scott Lee doesn't really belong in this category, but we just had to include him somewhere! : ) This guy is an actor. His movies have included 'Dragon : The Bruce Lee Story'(1993)...(hence his inclusion in this category). His performance in the movie is outstanding and he does great justice to the memory of Bruce Lee. Other roles include the Kevin Costner-produced 'Rapa Nui'(1994) - a portrayal of the ancient Easter Island society. He has also starred in Rudyard Kipling's classic, 'The Jungle Book'(1995). His first starring role was 'Map of the Human Heart'(1993), in which he played an Eskimo. Other minor movie roles include 'Born in East LA'(1987) and 'Back to the Future Part II'(1989). Jason has also done some TV, including 'American Eyes'(1990), in which he played a Korean boy adopted by an American family. He has done few movies, yet each movie he has starred in, he has displayed exceptional insight into the role.

Above all the movies Jason has done, one can easily say that 'Dragon : The Bruce Lee Story' was his best work. Reviews include -

* Elbert Review - "Jason Scott Lee brings some of the same exuberance to the role that audiences enjoyed in Bruce Lee's films."

* Baseline's Encyclopedia of Film - "Though possessing little physical resemblence to the kung fu legend and no prior martial arts training, Lee proved an inspired choice."

~ Aikido

Aikido is a gentle form of Martial Arts that concentrates on defending rather than attacking. Rather than fighting force against force, Aikido simply lets the opponent's force go, so that is why Aikido is suitable for the young and old and people of all different sizes. Aikido also concentrates on the spiritual angle, and there is a strong correlation between mind and body to the point where they are considered to be one. So, to train the body, one must also train the mind.

Nandya on Aikido...I've been doing Kokikai Aikido for 4 years now at the U.N.S.W (University of New South Wales) dojo. I'm also the secretary at the Macquarie University dojo, where I also teach. Aikido for me is a way of finding inner fulfillment and self discipline. As mentioned above, Aikido exercises both the mind and body. This has been particularly useful in tackling my everyday stresses. Currently I am training for my Shodan grading( 1st degree black belt) which is probably going to take place in June.

If you have any questions about Aikido, simply e-mail Nandya. She'll be happy to tell you all about this unique style of martial arts.
