------------A.L.G. has been part of Darkroom Familia for a while now, so it was only time before he stepped up to the plate and recorded a solo cd. A.L.G. has been featured on not only Darkroom Familia projects, but is also part of Lowdown. So if you have heard a Darkroom cd you should be familiar of A.L.G. I was coming into this cd with high expectations and I must say I was a little let down.
___This isn’t a short cd, with 16 tracks in all. And this has it’s fair amount of guest appearances which doesn’t come as a surprise. But at times its hard to find that track that reminds you why A.L.G. is more than you average rapper. Immediately this cd hits you with some tights tracks starting with “Ya Can’t Stop What Ya Can’t See”. Nyghtmare, NC, A.L.G., and Konflict all have tight verses and exhibit nice flows. “The Right To Remain Violent” is a good solo song by A.L.G. This song shows that A.L.G. has the ability to handle himself on a whole song. Some other highlights include “Representing To The Fullest”(really nice beat) and “Final Prayer”. But some songs just don’t do much. “Was It All Just A Dream”, “Making $$$$ Doing Dirt”, and “Dayz Like This” are all average tracks that don’t have much going for them. Then there are songs like “It’s All About U N Me” and “Kiss N Tell” are both softer songs dealing with woman. “It’s All About U N Me” has A.L.G. rapping in half Spanish, half English with a girl named Moni V. combined with a tight, up-tempo beat. Not something you would expect from A.L.G. but it is a refreshing thing to hear and is one of the best songs on the cd. But “Kiss N Tell” doesn’t seem to have the same magic and turns into just another track that should be passed by. “It All Came Down” is pretty good song, but I know I have heard that beat somewhere before.
___This cd is a combination of surprises and disappointments. “It’s All About U N Me” and “Ya Can’t Stop What Ya Can’t See” are both tight songs that are more than worthy of being highlights of the album. But disappointments like “Brown Horse” can’t be overlooked as Lowdown members A.L.G., Never, and Lil Wyno do nothing to impress. And combine that with a handful of only decent tracks and you get a let down, of sorts. I am not saying this is a bad cd, its far from it, but I think A.L.G. could have come tighter than he did. It seems like a lot of his rhymes have just been reused from other songs. So if you are a fan of A.L.G. or Darkroom you should get it, but don’t expect the same caliber as his guest appearances.
