------------Veteranos is the sound track to Darkroom's second movie of the same name. It features all your favorite Darkroom members and even has appearances from Taydatay of 11/5 and Boots of the Coup. After a stellar sound track in "Penitentiary Chances", the anticipation of this cd was high. So does Darkroom follow up with another hit or does this one follow up sort compared to "Penitentiary Chances"?
___With 15 tracks and only 1 skit and 2 solo songs by Sir Dyno for the most part each song features several rappers. "Valley To The Bay" starts the cd out and contains 6 different people rapping on it. Taydatay opens up the song nicely with a tight verse and is refreshing to hear someone outside the Darkroom make an appearance. Duke and Crooked also give tight performances of this track. "My Camarada" is solo by Sir Dyno and showcases his ability to tell a story. He creates a vivid image in your head with his descriptive lyrics. "Darkroom Stories" is another group song, this time featuring 5 rappers. Duke steals this song with his humorous lyrics about what else but sex. And of course he mentions Alyssa Milano more than once. The members or Lowdown also make a few appearances and deliver two tight songs "The Shadiest" and "Dusk Till Dawn" that have those classic Lowdown sounding beats. "Conspiracy Theory" is another highlight with Boots coming with a great verse that makes the song. He shows that the westcoast doesn't lack the rhyming ability that the east is known for. The big three of DRF, Duke, Dyno, and Crooked, come together on "Horse Head In Your Bed" and make a classic Darkroom track. Also check out "Playing With Fire" as the is another high point with a really tight beat. But not every song contains the quality that most DRF cds are known for. "I'm A Vet," "Time Is Running Out," and "Stacks In My Pocket" all come up short in the end.
___Darkroom comes up with another good cd. With little to complain about the short comings for this cd are far and few between. Most of the songs are good with a few being great("Valley To The Bay," "Conspiracy Theory," and "The Shadiest") this is an enjoyable listen. I wouldn't say this is the best work Darkroom has done but its not their worse by any means. If you want to hear a good variety of Darkroom artists then check this it out.
