------------The tongue twisting master, Twista, is back again with a greatest hits album of sorts. Boasting that it has Twista’s greatest hits(ha) and unreleased material, this would surely get any Twista fan’s blood pumping. But one look at the features on this cd raises some issues, as Puff Daddy, Jay-z, Missy, and Timbaland, to name a few, all grace this cd. And if that wasn’t a good warning sign, maybe the fact that no where on the cd is there a name of a record company. Only if I had known what I was about to get.
___This cd starts off the same way Twista’s solo, “Adrenaline Rush”, did, with a tight song by the same name. After that we got “Straight Thuggin” which was taken off Kane & Abel’s album, but Kane nor Able are anywhere to be found on this track. Instead they leave you with a tight verse from Twista, but they also keep Sole’s verse. All I must say is her verse ruins the song as now there are only 2 verses, instead of 3 from the original. As Sole tries to convince you just hard she really is, taking about killing people, its all done with tight lyrics as Sole delivers clever lyrics as she just repeats the word shit over and over so it rhymes. Needless to say, she makes this song unbearable. Then we are hit with another classic “All My Niggaz”. Well I don’t mind Busta Rhymes or Jay-Z, but the minute Missy starts to rap, the next track has already begun. And since I’m at it, I might as well tell you about all the other wack guest appearances. Let’s see, two, once again, two songs featuring everyone’s favorite thug Puff Daddy. I would tell you right now how bad these songs suck, but to tell you the truth I didn’t even listen to them. Also 3-6 Mafia shows up on one track. I have never liked 3-6 Mafia and this only helps straighten those thoughts. Timbaland is also featured on a track, but fortunately he does not rap, and in fact its a decent track.
___For all the bad there are a few decent things doing for this cd. A big surprise is a track Twista did with Da Brat, “Intro For Unrestricted”. Only 2 minutes long, both Twista and Da Brat come tight. Another song that’s tight is “Ride Till We Die”
featuring Coo Coo Cal(?). The quality on this track isn’t great but Coo Coo Cal matches Twista on this one as they both do that classic rapid fire flow Twista is known for. Other classics such as “Po Pimp” featuring Do or Die are on here, but that’s expected as this is a greatest hits cd. “In the middle of the night” featuring Eightball and MJG and “Time” featuring UGK provide some decent material with a down south flavor to it.
___To call this a greatest hits cd is an insult. The only good songs are taken from Twista’s solo, “Adrenaline Rush”, and for people who already own that then there is really nothing worth listening to. With all the features on this cd, more than half of them suck and I would never be listen to them if I had a choice. Add in the fact that the track listing is wrong and we have yet another problem. For all the tracks on this cd, 23, there are just so many bad songs. I guess that just proves that at the moment, Twista does not have enough material to warrant a greatest hits cd. Instead, this cd is premature by about 5 years and it shows, as there is a lot of unnecessary filler. So that is why this cd is receiving such a low score, because to release a greatest hits cd, you need to have hits and this cd lacks them. I just want to warn everyone out there not to make the same mistake as me and purchase this cd.
