-------------Well, here we are at the end of another month. Boomin' Words has now been up and running for almost a year and a half. So many interviews and many more reviews. It's been a ride, but now the "From Portsmouth" part might have to be changed. We might not have too many updates during parts of the summer because both Bruce Wayne and I will be in the process of going to college. It won't be easy getting all the shit settled at first, but soon we will have more updates than ever. Don't expect our moving to disrupt the site in about July or so, but I wanted to give a warning with some good time so you don't think we have abandoned this shit.
___As you can see, Bruce Wayne reviewed "24 Deep", the classic from BLH. As for me, I was supposed to review the "Ghetto 2 Tha Barrio 2" compilation, but I didn't have enough time what with finals and shit. Expect to see that and maybe somehting else from me next week, if not sooner. I'm trying to keep things together in the final days here.
___If you haven't seen it already, go by the Overcore site because they just updated. They have a few clips from the much-anticipated cd about to come out from Esham "Tongues". These tracks are sounding pretty good at this point, but no one knows what the entire cd will be like. As for now, the information that is up is that it is 24 tracks long. A good guess is that the cd is filled to the brim with music, either 75 or possibly 80 mintues. Definitely check that out.
___Well thats enough out of me. I have to get some sleep to pick up a package at the post office tomorrow (hopefully something music related), but look for some brand new reviews to come starting in June, as the May updates wind down with this last one. Until whenever, see you then.

-------------This page hasn't been updated in a while, but everything else has. As you can see, the new format is finally up. This is what I had been hinting at for the longest time, but I finally got down and did some real work. I hope everyone finds this new format better than the old one. The main reason for setting things up like they are now was because it took too long to load up all the pictures. Another reason was that now we can see what reviews are getting hit up the most, so we'll now know what artists are getting the most hits and maybe we'll put up more reviews by them. As a final reason, I split the reviews up because the DRF section was getting too large when some of the reviews didn't necessarily go together. Which brings me to the next topic...
___The interviews that have been recently put up outline the differences between the DRF and Low Town Records. We hope that these two sets of questions will help you formulate your own throughts as to what happened when the Dogday/DRF situation split the two groups. We did this only to bring the fans information and we hope we achieved that goal. More interviews are coming soon, namely a DJ MT interview that is just waiting to be put on. This will happen next week, so be on the lookout for that.
___Oh yeah, I almost forgot to put up the Los Traficantes' "No Pararemos Hasta La Muerte" review. I have to work on it some more, but it will be put up an an intermediary update, either tomorrow or Thursday.
___On one last side note, I'm trying to spread the word about underground rap in my neghborhood. I have some connections at the school newspaper and I talked them into letting me put my review of X-Raided's "Vengeance Is Mine" into the paper. This will hopefully spur some interest in the underground Sac-Town rap scene. I'll write anything on here if anything develops.
___Alright, thats enough out of me, I have to get going. See you all next week and thanks for stopping by. Peace.

-------------Both Bruce Wayne and I are bringing the heat this week. Not only do we have three brand new reviews up and ready to be checked out, but we also have some controversy brewing concerning the DRF/Dogday split and its aftermath. This is the dueling interviews that are being promoted on the main page. We are not, however, attention-mongers solely doing this for publicity. We feel we have to give the fans of this underground music the very best and reliable information we can. This is why, beside giving unbiased reviews, we also try to get in contact with the people making the music. Anything they say in these interviews, interestingly enough, we post up directly. We do not edit anything out. If people want to talk about a certain subject that may be considered offensive to others, such as other rappers, we post it up without total abandon for the consequences. I personally feel that information is power and the more truthful and accurate information we can post on this site, then the underground rap scene will only grow. I feel that we are contributing to the underground, even though we just started this site as a way of breaking the monotiny of life in Portsmouth. We have grown so much that we are starting to wield some power and with this power, I feel that we have to provide detailed and relevant information about the rappers we review. The best way to do this is through interviews.
___Having said that, be sure to check out the interviews that are coming soon. We have the Lil Wyno Interview, but are merely touching it up so that the layout is consistent with the others. Also, it has been delayed until, at the latest, the last day of April as we have another interview that is more or less connected with that one. I have said enough, so just check back by at that time.
___Some news to report also: As some of you may have seen on the BART Boards, Sir Dyno of the Darkroom Familia has been indicted by a federal court. Read the article for yourself as it is sure to have an effect on the goings on at the DRF: Sir Dyno Indicted.
___Unfortunately I must leave on this news. I have to get some sleep, but until next Tuesday keep checking out the new reviews and any old ones you may have missed. Peace.

-------------I wish I had had time to review something last week, but I was trying to relax for a change because I had vacation and I never get to just rest, so thats what I did. Anyway, Bruce Wayne is keeping things fresh with a review of Top Authority this week. I will do something next week, most notably review Nefarious' (X-Raided) "Speak of Da Devil" along with possibly another cd. Besides that, we have some new interviews coming soon, but in the mean time check out the Never one that is up. One of them, as I mentioned before, is Lil Wyno. It should just be a couple of more weeks for that, so be on the lookout. When we have something a little more conrete, I'll let it be known.
___Also on the way is a new format for the reviews pages. Each review will be individually paged, so it will be easier to find exact reviews. That update should be coming soon, like before the end of April. Until then, keep checking back for the new updates. Lata.

-------------March is over, and so are the March updates, which can only mean one thing: A whole new month of new reviews and interviews. We being this month by a long overdue review of Esham's "Kkkill The Fetus". I was originally supposed to review this cd back in June and I had been listening to it for a while to get the overall feel of it, as it is a great recording. But thanks to the cancelation of the Esham concert in C-Town, I was too pissed off to give it a deserving review. At any rate, now the review is up and it is the first of at least 4 or 5 to come this month.
___Moving on to other news, the Never interview has been up for about 2 weeks and it is getting viewed by many people. We got in touch with him and he did the interview and we can only be thankful. Moreover, he got us in contact with a few other people, most notably Lil Wyno, who we are talking to now for an interview. Look for that later this month or possibly early May. We are also in the process of interviewing a few other rappers who will remain nameless until we finalize some things. Look for that update soon, though.
___Boomin' Words has been growing a lot lately and it is in part thanks to many sites who have posted up our link. These sites are also the most recent additions to the Boomin' Words From Portsmouth Links Page. It was updated yesterday and a few weeks. If you have not gone by, check those sites out to find out more about your favorite artists.
___Well, I have to get going, but thanks for stopping by. If you haven't dne so already, sign up for the Boomin' Words Newsletter, as you will be informed of the ongoings here sooner than anyone else. Until then, check out the reviews that are up and come back soon. Peace.

-------------If you have checked out the site lately, you have noticed we have been keeping up with our weekly updates, as Serr Dyno and myself have both done reviews recently. But there has been a lot more happening behind the scenes at Boomin' Words. As Serr Dyno stated earlier, we have come into contact with Never, member of Lowdown/Minority Militia and owner of Lowtown records. From this we have been available to hook up yet another interview and possibly one more (that artist will be named later). We are waiting diligently for the interview to come back and it will be up as soon as we get our hands on it. But the interviews do not stop there as Serr Dyno and myself have been hard at work trying to hook up several other interviews and from the look of things, there should be some really hot stuff coming very soon. We have even been approached by another rapper, who will remain unnamed for now, to do an interview. Trust me, if everything works out, this is going to be a very good month for Boomin' Words. Later on we will reveal the artists we are going to interview, but as of now we still have a few things to work out and we do not want to promise anyone anything just yet.
___There should also be some more reviews coming up as Serr Dyno and myself have been hard at work trying to get a new review up every week. You should see more reviews from Serr Dyno as his cd collection has been re-stocked due to the generous offerings of one of his close friends. Also, there should be some more DRF reviews coming as I have finally received the final shipment of cds from them. Though it took some time (and e-mails), I am pleased to say that I am happy with the treatment I received from the guys at DRF. They even gave me a free tape for the inconvenience. Make sure to check out their website to order all the latest DRF cds. While your at it, take a look at the links page as we have new link, Killa Valley Records, home of such artists as Young Droop. With new format, this is one of the better websites that is run by a record company. Make sure you check it out. That’s it for now, but make sure to come back soon and check out the next installment as some breaking news might appear very shortly.

-------------Well, February is over and so is the February Update. Luckily a new month means new reviews. We are right now in the middle of the March Update. Our plan is to have at least, at the very least, a new review up every week. This way, we keep the content fresh while giving everyone what they want to see.
___Speaking of what people want, we are soon to have at least one interview up. We are talking with Never of Lowdown/Low Town right now. We should have some interesting questions and answers up soon. This is coupled with even more possible reviews from Lowdown and Low Town, including Lil Wyno among others, that will be coming in the near future.
___Well, I have to send out the Boomin' Words From Portsmouth Newsletter, so I have to get going (I know that was some shameless promotion, but anything to get you interested, right?) Thanks for stopping by and check back with us next week.

-------------As you may or may not have noticed yet, Boomin Words has been making minor changes here and there for the past few weeks. Both Serr Dyno and myself believe these are for the better as it was time to update some stuff such as the background color and text color. Be on the look out for a new format for the main page as its time for something a little new. On top of that, I am trying to get back in the routine of doing one review a week. By the looks of things, there should be a review up of Brown Area- California Latins by the end of the week. Also, though this is not 100%, there should be a review up of Now Eat by Serr Dyno very soon. Which leads me into my next subject...
___After the disappointing Manifest trip of last, I had a lot of money left over and still didn’t have the cds I wanted. So what I decided to do was ordered directly from Darkroom through their website. I must say I am somewhat disappointed as of right now as I have only received one out of 5 cds that I ordered and that was over 2 weeks ago. After finally getting a package from them I received Brown Area- California Latins, two posters, and a notice informing me that the other cds I had ordered were out of stock at the moment. I found this very surprising as they didn’t have their own cds! Well hopefully I will receive my other cds soon, as they wrote back to me saying they got 2 of them just and are waiting for the others to be re-stocked. I wouldn’t highly recommend doing this as it takes a long time to get what you wanted, but on the plus side you do receive free posters and the cds are very cheap($14). If you are looking for the latest DRFcd and can’t find it anywhere I suggest you give this a chance, just don’t be expecting anything for a while.
___As for Manifest, well Serr Dyno had a chance to go back to Manifest and of course they had the cds I wanted from the last time he had went. Fortunately for me, SerrDyno had come prepared and picked up Duke- A gift before I’m gone and the Now Eat soundtrack. Now only if I could get him to send them to me then I would be all set. I should also be placing a new order very shortly to Dogday records for some of their newest stuff as I can’t find it anywhere. Hopefully they will be quicker than Darkroom.
___This is turning out to be a hot bed of releases as there is tons of good shit coming out. Not only did Darkroom just release Duke- A gift before I’m gone, but on March 6 they are also releasing Smile Now, Cry Later soundtrack and Duke & Dyno- Traffic. On April 10 Crooked will release his second solo, They fear me. Today is the release date for the new Lil Wyno- Back with a vengeance and a new Lowdown cd “The Classics” which is a re-release of their Up in smoke and The next episode cds. This is one of the main reasons I am placing a order to Dogday records. Also, Shoestring of the Dayton Family is preparing to release his newest solo record on Overture records on April 10. Now only if they sign Bootleg, then the Dayton Family will be back together. That about ends it for this week in terms of updates, so come back soon and look for some new changes and a lot more reviews.

-------------FInally got my hands on "Ghetto Theater". From listening through the first time, I had mixed feelings. There are some good songs on there and the lyrics are tight all the way through, but some of the beats fall a little short. In addition to this, some of hooks in the songs are too laid back and could have been made a lot better.
___Mind you me, this is only an initial impression of the cd. Also, I had extremely high expectations for this one. I will come back with a full review by Tuesday of next week. The weekend will give me plenty of time to review it properly. Later.

-------------Ghetto Theater was surpirsingly not in. It must have been problems at Overcore because it was nowhere to be found in several places of the country, including on Amazon. I'll check back with you tomorrow as this lack of Ghetto E will hopefully end.

-------------The first part of the February update is in. Expect this to be the first in a series of new reviews in the coming weeks, at least one new review per week.
___The real reason, though, why I am writing a new opinion is to say that the Ghetto E release tomorrow has me anxious. I have heard the clips of the cd that have been put up on the Overcore and Horrorcore sites, and that just makes me want to get this cd even more. Hopefully Camelot music will have it because no delays are expected. Usually, TvT puts their shit out on the dates that they say and hopefully this time will be no different. It was just a few short months ago that "THEMINDZI" came out and they had it the that very same day. I have good feelings that Camelot will come through.
___I'll let everyone tomorrow know if I was able to get it and my initial feelings. Look for a review of it before the end of the month.
___That's all from me, later.

-------------As the anniversary of Boomin' Words From Portsmouth came and went, we now have to get on track to make 2001 even more successful than 2000. We are going to start next week being one the of first sites to review Ghetto E's "Ghetto Theater". This is coming out the 6th of Feb. It features artists such as Esham, MC Breed, and the rest of the Dayton Family, Shoestring and Bootleg.
___Another release to look forward to in the near future is the new Duke solo, "A Gift Before I'm Gone". This will mark the first cd of what is looking to be a busy year for DRF. They are planning 4 solo cds (not including the "A Gift Before I'm Gone"), a Traficantes all-spanish cd, and two proper DRF cds, "Men of Honor" and a soundtrack to another one of their movies, "Smile Now, Cry Later". Speaking of their movies, they are just about done shooting "Smile Now, Cry Later" and it has an expected release date of Feb. 27th. We have heard speculation of up to 6 DRF movies and upwards of 15 or 20 music cds to be released this year. While the actual number may not end up being that high, it just goes to show that the DRF wants to make 2001 their most productive year. The release date on that Duke cd is Feb. 14th.
___Another camp that's set out to make 2001 a notable year for them is the newly formed Madman Records. With supposedly 3 new cds to be released this year, it doesn't look like they'll be able to pull it off. A quick search on Amazon.com came up with no cds, except for an old compilation, for Big Hollis, "Fire", supposedly released a week ago. Hopefully they will get everything they need together for their other 2 up and coming releases.
___Well, that about does it for me. Check back later this week or next week for some new reviews and maybe some more news. Later.

-------------I was thinking to myself about what I could do for the end of year awards. Bruce Wayne has already done a extensive list of the best of the year, as he has come in contact with a lot more of the music that was released in 2000. I would have come across a lot more of it, but Manifest had to be a bitch and only 2 cds were found, even though all of the DRF movies were picked up. I will review "Penitentiary Chances" and "Veteranos" soon, but in the mean time I am going to do a best song of the year award for the awards page. Even though I dont' have that much material to work with, I still got VIM, "Themidzi", and heard P-Folks and Loki. So that it doesn't seem like I'm bailing out on the Boomin' Word fans, I will get this up sometime.
___In other news, the Boomin' Words From Portsmouth mp3 radio station will soon be encated again. If anyone remembers it was up months ago, but discontinued because of technical reasons. I think I found out how to fix the problems plauging the system and I will try it out in a few weeks.
___As I have to get going now, I'll just say thank you to the fans who have seemingly taken a great deal of interest in this page and what we have done. We have only kept going because we have seen the hits on all the pages steadily increase, otherwise we would have stopped a long time ago. Thanks again and you'll here from me again soon.

-------------In case you didn't know this is officially the one year anniversary of Boomin Words From Portsmouth. But I'll speak on that later on. First off, if you haven't already, pick up the new Murder Dog. Its the end of the year issue and picks its top 45 cds and has other categories such as best solo, group, etc., with some of Boomin's Personal favorites being among these such as Brotha Lynch, Mastamind, Esham, and Darkroom Familia to name a few. There is also interviews with Mastamind, Brotha Lynch, and brief ones with Esham, First Degree, Crooked(I think), Mr. Doctor, Doomsday and many others. So check it out. Also as you may have noticed, there has been some discussion now from both Serr Dyno and myself about the next great Manifest trip. Well, it went down last week and all I have to say is its was a complete let down for not only myself, but Serr Dyno also. All that was found was 2 cds and all the Darkroom video's. I was expecting much more than that and had made sure things were probably hooked up in case of a shortage of money but that wasn't the case at all. In fact I don't think very highly of Manifest anymore.
___ Now as I was saying before Boomin has now been in business for over a year. At first it was nothing more than a small little website dedicated to Esham for the most part, it has now grown to be bigger than what we ever expected. With 52 reviews done in only one year only two reviews (for the most part) we have surpassed the original goals set. We also hooked up some tight interviews that gave Boomin just another aspect. There has also been some misses also such as the Boomin Radio show and the Boomin Board(now the cool place for scrap's or whatever they are). But in the end we have succeeded in my mind and things should only get bigger.
___ The goal of Boomin was to provide people like ourselves, underground rap fans, with a place to get all the latest reviews and news concerning our favorite rappers. We also are proud to say we reached our goal of 2000 hits in one year as we just surpassed it this day. I want to thank all the people who made that possible and I hope you continue to support Boomin Words. I also want to thank Ramon for making this all possible because without him there would be no Boomin Words. Although we had a major set back with him moving to South Carolina the site has continued to flourish. Hopefully we can continue this even when we go to college. So once again, thanks Ramon AKA Serr Dyno for all you have done for the website. I would also like to thank all the artist who let us do an interview with them: Crooked, Sapo, J-Loc, and Tre-8 and wish all of you the best of luck with your music. I would also like to personally thank Crooked for what he has done with the website, giving us inside info on all the latest DRF projects, doing reviews for us, and for providing the best interview I have ever read(seriously). I hope we can continue to have the Boomin Words-Darkroom connection. So I hope you guys have enjoyed what we have done and please post your remarks about the website on the Boomin Board so we can continue to make changes for the better. I'm out. 1
