Compilation- "18 Wit A Bullet"

Date: 11/14/00

------------18 Wit A Bullet is a compilation from Black-N-Brown Records and is the sequel to their first compilation 17 Reasons. Featuring Mr.Kee, C-Bo, the Mobb Figaz, San Quinn, and Guce to name a few this cd doesn't lack quality rappers. But does this cd break out of the mold of sub-par compilations coming out of the bay? Unfortunately we got the same old...
___With some of the names mentioned above you would think that at least half of the songs on this cd are good if not great but that's not the case. In fact its hard to pull out good songs on this cd. "Come Fuck Wit Us" is the first good song on this cd as the both the Mob Figaz and Guce make good appearances. It is followed by another quality track by Totally Insane called "Mission 4 Cheese." With Totally Insane kicking rhymes back and forth it makes for an enjoyable track. "Forever Thug Life" by C-Bo and San Quinn is probably the best song on the whole cd as both the lyrics and beat come together on this one. Mc Man and Agerman both bring heat on "Gangstered Out" with Mc Man really shinning on this one. Another tight song is "Killer Sharks" by Brown Factor. I really like the beat and lyrics and is second only to "Forever Thug Life" as the best track on the cd. And that's it for good songs. Only 5 really good songs on the whole cd. Other songs could have been good if not for weak beats that seem to be all over this one. Songs such as "18 Wit A Bullet" by 11/5 and Mr.Kee are perfect examples of what could have been something but in the end fall short as the beat and lyrics don't come together and instead make a forgettable track. This is a common problem throughout the cd.
___There are just to many shortcomings on this cd to warrant a purchase. With only several good songs, a handful of decent songs, and the rest garbage this cd is average at most. Its a shame that this cd didn't come out right since there was enough talent here to make something decent at the least if not good. Songs that you would think to be tight, suck as San Quinn and Mr.Kee solo's, turn out to be disappointments with boring beats. I cannot recommend this cd as it turns out to be another low quality bay area compilation. Leave it on the shelf with all those area bay area compilations and maybe companies will get the idea that these half assed efforts don't cut it any more.
