------------I've been waiting for a classic E-40 album since he signed with JIVE. Well, In my opinion, the wait is
over. LOYALTY & BETRAYAL is a 16 track album full of
some of the best E-40 tradmark shit since IN A MAJOR
WAY.
___The Title track is a simple but effective track that
spits game about how muthafuckers can't be trusted.
About how your closest homies will betray you. It's a
dope track with the chorus saying it all: "Some gon'
betray you, some gon' be loyal." I liked this track, but It's not a good enough track to start the CD off with.
No matter, 'cause next up is LACE ME UP featuring SUGA
T. This is a cool little player song remeniscent of
SPRINKLE ME, only better with 40 and SUGA T trading
vocals back and forth.
___YA BLIND is a smooth laid back track with an R & B
sort of feel, but not in a faggot way. Trust me, it
sounds tight. YA BLIND featuring EIGHTBALL. DOPE laid
back track. Smooth pimp/player shit.
SINISTER MOB featuring NATE DOGG-DAMN! this track is
the fucking SHIT!!!! WAY fucking tight! Bomb ass
bassline. And to my surprise, NATE DOGG comes through
with a dope little rap/singing verse. Defenitely one
of the tightest songs on this disc.
BEHIND GATES featuring ICE CUBE is another sick ass
track. E-40 and CUBE tear this track up. CUBE actually
sounds good for a change.
NIGGA SHIT featuring MACK 10, B-Legit and D-SHOT.
Another tight ass song. This one takes it back to the
OLD E-40 sound. VERY TIGHT!
NAH NAH featuring NATE DOGG. This is the radio single
so I wan't expecting anything that tight and is the
only weak link on this album.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN is one of the TIGHTEST songs on
this album as well. It has 40 spittin GAME about the
industry and rappers who blow up over night. He clowns
on THE SOURCE and BLAZE magazines and gives props to
MURDERDOG masgazine. Lyrically, one of E-40's best.
HAM SAMICHES & COUP DE VILLES-Cool track produced by
OUTKAST and featuring OUTKAST and BIG GIP from the
GOODIE MOB.
IT'S LIKE A JUNGLE. Another dope Bay Area Game Spittin
track with that classic E-40 sound. Dope!
F.O.M.H.(Fucking Off My High) featuring B-Legit, Dope
track...Nice interlude for the rest of the CD.
KANDYMAN-The BEST track on this CD. Spittin game over
a dope ass piano track about servin fiends and selling
that "candy." Unfortunately, this track is not
available on the CD. Only on this advance promo CD
that JIVE sent me. I don't know hwy they removed this
track on the final pressing, but it is THE SHIT! DOPE
AS FUCK! One of E-40's BEST.
CLOWN WIT IT-featuring MYSTIKAL. This one is also
cool, but as you know, E-40 is always best solo.
IT'S PIMPIN' simple beat with some dope ass rhymes.
DOIN' A FOOL-featuring TOO $HORT, PASTOR TROY, SKA
FACE AL KAPONE and PIMP C of UGK. Another DOPE ASS
track. Probably the second best track on the CD simply
because of the bassline. Classic TOO $HORT rhymes
makes this song stand out. Only problem with this
track was the mixing down and mastering of the song.
Some of the vocals were REALLY low. And I could barely
hear what some of the guest rappers are saying. But,
the beat iteself makes up for that. Defenitely dope.
POP YOUR COLLAR-Featuring B-LEGIT. Cool track.
Speaking on Bay Area players "poppin' collars.
___Overall, LOYALTY & BETRAYAL delivers. To me, personally, I think this is the best E-40 album in years. Just as good, if not, better than IN A MAJOR
WAY. Probably the best CD he's released since FEDERAL. It puts CHARLIE HUSTLE to shame. Must have for any E-40 fan. Trust me. Give it a chance. It is dope and
full of GAME.
